    Ranger-class scout (CODA)

As I was thinking about updating the "Strider Incident" module, I decided to update the Ranger-class to CODA. Made it with the Starships rules with my own ideas to make it reflect the ship as it appears in the FASA RPG. Now I just have to update the NPC's, the rest I think I can improvise, but my players have never played in the TOS/TMP era. So this should be different.

The Ranger class scout is a small vessel with extremely cramped crew quarters for a Federation vessel. It is used in areas requiring small, lightly armed vessels. The Ranger is popular as a convoy escort in hazardous areas. The Ranger class usually works in groups of 2 or 3 for mutual protection. Despite its enhanced sensors, the Ranger class was match against the lighter Klingon scouts such as the K-22 scout, D-32 light cruiser, and L-42 frigate.
In 2273, the class underwent an upgrade to improve its capabilities. The impulse engines and warp drive were improved. The firepower was increased with the addition to two additional phasers, but these new emitters came at the cost of the ships cargo capacity and cut its shuttle capacity in half, but this was seen as a good trade to improve its offensive punch and increasing its chances of getting back from its scouting missions.
Design Note: I decided to trade the shuttlebay space and cargo capacity, didn't figure a light scout would need all that cargo and the book only has 2 shuttles anyway. It only had to be a short range scout attached to a starbase or operating as part of a fleet and act as its recon element.

Owen had started some deckplans for the ranger at one point, but I have no idea if he got around to finishing them.
Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
