I'm trying to get back into the FASA Star Trek Universe by running a game set in 2288. As part of every game I run, I write extensive role-playing journals. For my recent games of Call of Cthulhu I was able to post them at Yog-Sothoth.com in the journal section but would like a place to post the Star Trek game I'm now running.
Okay, if anyone is interested — I started a myspace account as part of a story I'm writing for the paper I work for. I blogged the first journal of my recent game. If anyone is interested it can be found (if I did it right) at:
I believe there was discussion about setting up a journal subforum, but I beleive that most moderators think that the Narrator's subforum is the best area for them.
The three characters (Liam Smith, detective; Chip Mathers, veteran and bounty hunter; and Benjamin Willows, museum curator) have tromped into the outback in "City Beneath the Sands" from Terror Australis.
This one has numerous spoilers and not one sanity check for the first part of the adventure.
I really liked the Star Trek journals. Good writing, interesting puzzle. Are you going to have more adventures or was this a one-shot game? You managed to accomplish a whole lot! I was under the impression these were just short evening games yet it took me days to read the two Trek posts (when I'm not busy at work).
Thanks for the interest. So few people reply to these posts.
I plan on running again though sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get people to play. I'm hoping to run ST in February next. We usually play for about six hours or so though if the players get into it, it goes longer. The next adventure I plan on running is called Safari in Scarlet or Safari in Violet (I can never remember) from an old Stardate Magazine. Probably a bit more action on that one.
I'll continue using the U.S.S. Alert and her crew. I have a rough idea for a campaign set it 2288 that leads to the Fifth Man/Kzin War.
I'm actually supposed to play some D&D this weekend (as opposed to running). The guy running has run for me only once before but I had a history all set up for my character. It's a Forgotten Realms game and I'm playing a gnome wizard from Lantan called Professor Beemish. You can find a preview post with his history here:
Tomorrow or the next day I'll post the journal of the only game I played with Professor Beemish to date (almost three years ago). Next week I'll post the journal of the game this weekend. Then another Call of Cthulhu game is set for Jan. 26.
Ellit Macy (dilletante)
Alan Knight (bartender)
Professor Johanson (professor of archaeology)
Benjamin Willows (Curator of the Miskatonic University Exhibit Museum)
Chip Mathers (bounty hunter)
Liam Smith (private investigator)
Pretty good game.
Exploration was kind of glossed over in an attempt to find the villain but they still saw more than they probably wanted. I especially liked the role-playing when Professor's Cowles, Dodge, and Johanson saw the Titan Horror and were not able to describe it until Willows threatened to go look himself and none of them wanted him see the horror they had seen. Kakakatak was pretty cool too.
