    Post Whimsy Cards

I have created a set of whimsy cards to use with the LUGTrek game. For those of you framilier with the idea you may know that they can add a lot to a game.

    But not everyone likes them

I invite you all to Downlaod them for free from my website and let me know what you think.

All feedback is welcome, but maturity and temperence is invivted

Hey, Foamy... Time to stop inhaling the fumes over at the plant...

Dunno if I really care for some of the card options - particularly the ones which add dice to the rolls, as there's already a mechanism in the game for that - Courage points and various Advantages.

Well the set I use in my own game, actually allows for a +1 instead of a +1d, but then I also make Edges provide a bonus rather than extra dice.

Not everyone likes Whimsy Cards, but the reality I have seen is that no matter the group, despite the game, at first they are hesitent and then once they use them they can't get enough of them. They just add another aspect to the game and the Sub-Plot cards alone are a boon to any Narrator.

Still some people prefer their games systems not to be monkied with and I can respect that, but like some of my alternate-lifestyle friends say "Vanilla is boring".

Neat Cards Aslan, I remember mine fondly when I played the TORG and Shatterzone (a game I liked much better for sentimental reasons although it has its flaws as well). I liked the Shatterzone cards better frankly, because of the Major plot cards [such as the "fertilizer hitting the rotary oscillator" card depicting a suspicious looking object striking a fan.] and the wealth of subplots. I remember as a GM fitting the subplots into the adventures I had developed and making a much better experience for all concerned at the end. I shall give these a try the next time I play, thanks very much for posting them.

In terms of feedback: The subplots you have now are great to start with and fit very nicely into the Trek genre. The only thing I would want personally would be a few more subplots. Trust me this is no failing in your cards whatsoever, just something to add as they are created later (maybe even by just replacing/phasing out the older subplots with the newer ones as the old plots get used).

Each JPG should print to an 8.5x11 page on landscape setting. Try adjusting your print otions so if it offers it you can select "Print To Page"

    Hope that helps.
