    Heath Ledger dead at 28

    http://omg.yahoo.com/heath-ledger-fo...e-28/news/5898

Just heard, figured I'd post it. Another bright new talent passes on. Already the rumors are flying: that he'd been haveing trouble sleeping since playing the Joker.

Whatever the case, keep a thought and a prayer for his family, especially his daughter.

Yeah, this bummed me a bit. I've like Heath's work since Roar.

Yeah this has been flying round the internet since last night. Well it will take some time for the reasons to come through, but regardless, it's very sad, he was a good actor, and wasted potential is always sad.

What a shame. I would not say I am a fan of his work, but most of the movies I saw with him wer entertaining and not the least because of his acting - which dramatically changed when I saw the trailer for "The Dark Knight", where I thought: Who is that, I thought Heath Ledger got the part of the Joker. What I could glimps at in the trailer was among the best acting I have seen so far from anyone and I intended to keep on lookout for other movies with him. So when I read about his death this morning I was really negatively surprised. Death and especially at that young an age is always a tragedy, but for me it felt as if he was just starting now and now he is gone instead.
I can only hope for the best for his loved ones and friends.

My Condolences to his family, Ex, and child. However, I am sure that time will heal all wounds. Moving along . . . more important things . . . more meaningful people passing away in the world . . . then some young celebrity. -_-

Who gives you the right to decide that one person is less meaningful than another?

Yep, I thought that was pretty heartless too. Started well, ended badly.

    *sigh*

Maybe we should stay calm and politely ask JALU3 to clarify his statement, before everyone jumps to conclusions and we get another nasty situation.

The suggestion that anyone has the authority to judge one life more meaningful than another, even in jest, is a pretty serious thing.

No one said I had the right to judge whether someone's life is worth more or less then someone elses. I by no means believe I have the right.
However, for the amount of attention being showered upon this individuals death, I don't believe, in my personal opinion, that his death deserves more attention then other peoples. It should be noted, morned, and we should all continue about our lives.
I empathize with his family, as I have lost a loved one as well. However, that's where I think it should stop. Those who have known the person should morn, the rest of us should leave them alone, and allow them to morn as they see fit (as long as it doesn't impact others negatively).

Now all that is said, and the point made...

I think that this thread is over.

Do you guys remember a few years ago when a famous NASCAR driver was killed in a race? On the same day, a military helicopter crashed and a dozen American soldiers died doing their duty. NASCAR was headline news; the soldiers were barely acknowledged. A few people spoke up and asked how the death of a race car driver who was playing a game for money could be more important to the media than the death of soldiers fighting for our freedom.

Heath Ledger was a talented actor; I love A Knight's Tale. I'm sorry he died and I sympathise with those who knew and loved him. But let's not allow his death to overshadow all the really important things happening in the world.

    Sarge.

    Point has been made.

And a moderator suggestion that the subject be laid up to avoid things getting out of hand.

    Please can we do so.
