DOCKPORT SHUTTLE MODULES
Each of the modules below can be added to a Dockport shuttle to enhance it's capabilities. A ship may attach more than one module and the pod modules each have a male and female dockport to allow them to stack in a similar fashion to Work Bee cargo pods. Too many modules can drain from ship's systems and reduce performance. If a shuttle carries more modules than it's Size rating, reduce it Operations Systems by 1 to reflect the strain. If it carries more than twice it's Size rating, reduce it's Life Support systems by one as well. Continue alternating between Operations and Life Support for each additional multiple of Size.
Aquatic Encasement Module: This module attaches to the underside of the shuttle and is specific to each of the dockport classes of shuttlecraft. For instance, the one for the Chisu-class won't fit the Atai-class. The Encasement allows the shuttle to operate at depths of up to 100 meters underwater.
Communications Module: This module enhances the shuttlecraft's communications systems and includes a subspace communications antenna. The Narrator should reduce the difficulties of communications task by 2 in situations where a shuttle would normally suffer.
Fuel Module: This module can extend the range of a shuttle and the time that it can remain away from the mother ship.
Impulse Module: This module mounts on the shuttles sides just before the dockport, adding additional impulse engines to the craft. This increasing it's sublight performance to 0.53(C)c
Manipulation Module: This module consists of a pair or waldoes that attach to the front of the shuttle allowing the pilot to manipulate objects without having to leave the shuttle, or to grab and transport objects. This module can be fitted to the Viewer-class Travel Pod.
Micro-Warp Module: This module attaches to the underside of the shuttle, and adds a light warp capability to the shuttle (wf 3.2/3.5/3.7) (A). It does not alter the shuttle engines reliability.
Phaser Module: This module attaches to the bow of the shuttle, and adds a pair of BP-2/2 Phasers. This increases Penetration to 3/3/2/0/0 and reliability to B. If fitted to a Viewer-class travel pod, it the Phasers are worth Penetration 2/2/0/0/0, and reliability A.
Photon Module: This module mounts on top of the shuttlecraft and adds a pair of the new (and experimental) Micro torpedo launchers. These have a Penetration of 2/2/2/0, but do not improve the reliability of the shuttles weapon systems (Travel Pods get Reliability A).
Research Module: This module attaches to the top of the shuttle, includes enhanced wide-band collection capabilities providing the shuttle with Class 2a sensors (Reliability BB).
Sensor Module: This module, attached near the bow of the shuttle and includes specialized sensors focused to operate in a narrow band. These must be turned towards being used for a specific sensor function (lifeforms, atmospheric data, warp drives, radiation, etc). When used for this specific purpose the sensors provide a +1 bonus to tests.
Sled Adapter Plate: This module is used to attach a Dockport shuttle to the Tai-class warp sled. Note that the Atai-class shuttle does not require an adapter.
Survey Module: This module attached underneath the shuttle and is basically a Sensor modules optimized for scanning stellar bodies. It's main advantage is that it allows a shuttle to attach a Sensor module as well. See Sensor Module above.
Tractor Module: This module attaches to the shuttle's aft section right next to the docking port and contains an aft dorsal tractor beam.
Tow Hitch: This module attaches to the shuttle's aft section right next to the docking port and contains a hitch that allows the shuttle to be used to transport cargo containers used by the Work Bee.
DOCKPORT SHUTTLE PODS
These Pods have a male and a female dockport allowing a shuttle to attach multiple pods much the way train can attack multiple cars. All the Pods attach to the aft section of the shuttle.
Option: If a ship is carrying a string of Pods, reduce it's Helm maneuver modifier by 1 each time the number of pods exceed the shuttle's Size. This is really only important if a shuttle carrying a lot of pods should find itself under attack.
Cargo Pod: This pod can hold 4 cargo units.
Medical Pod: This pod is a portable trauma center and operating theater. It is staffed by 2 medical personnel and has facilities to accommodate 12 patients.
Passenger Pod: This pod is used to transport personnel, and has seating for 20.
Light Cargo Pod: This is a smaller version of the Cargo Pod, and is often used to add additional equipment on missions. Due to it's small Size and modest energy requirements, Light Cargo Pods count at half a pod (round down). So One light Cargo Pod is free. The Light Cargo Pod holds 1 cargo unit.

Note: Replace the pertinent data of a dockport shuttle when attached to the warpsled with the Tai's capabilties as follows. All other data remains unaltered. Remember than all shuttles except the Atai-class must use a docking plate adapter.

The Tai-class warp sled is another Vulcan innovation, and resulted in some of the first practical medium ranged warp shuttles. Limitations in Warp Technology required that Warp Nacelles either be widely spaced apart to protect the crew, or be very weak, limiting their speed, and by extension, their usefulness. Generally this lead to shuttles, either being significantly larger, as was the case with the Long Range shuttles such as the Copernicus, or limited to speeds below Warp 3, as was the Clay with the Type F shuttlecraft.
The Tai-class sled sidestepped the limitations of the day by making the warp nacelles optional. A ship could carry standard sized shuttles, and fit one with a warp sled when required. This greatly increased the scope of shuttle operations, and allowed for some interchangeability between civilian and Starfleet shuttles. It also meant that a damaging a long range shuttle did not also eliminate the ability to use a warp shuttle.
The Sled adds additional Impulse and Warp capability to the shuttle, as well as improved navigational sensors, and deflectors. A shuttle attached to a warp sled cannot attach a Aquatic Encasement, or Research Module.
A shuttle that is damaged that detached from the sled can assign up to 5 points of structural damage to the sled, and any Systems damage over the shuttle's base stats.
The Tai-class remained popular until the 2280s when advanced in warp propulsion finally reached the level where a true normal sized mid-warp capable shuttle was practical.
NEW STARSHIP DESIGN OPTION Dockport: Most starships have Docking ports. Each docking port cost 1 cargo unit, and a ship can have a maximum number of docking ports equal to twice it Size. In general ships of Size 3 or greater have all female docking ports. Ships below Size 3 will usually have a male docking port (to allow the to dock with larger ships), but many have one of each, allowing the craft to carry Dockport Pods.

Notes: THe Wright-class atmospheric shuttle is a new designed that has been optimized to operate inside a planetary atmosphere, resulting a much more agile craft. It can carry a crew of 7, and withstand up to 10 atmospheres of pressure, conduct multiple planetary reentries in a single mission, and has much greater fuel reserves and range than a standard interplanetary shuttle. It has a long range sensor system allowing it to be used as a scout craft or surveyor. It is not wapr capable
This was the proposed shuttle design for the Star Trek: Phase II TV series. I based the design on what little information I could find on the net, and had to come up with my own name for the class. I'm considering giving it Hull Plating III (Protection 9) to help reflect the strengthened hull.

Notes: Another Phase II design. This shuttlepod shares the wedge shape of the the dockport family of shuttles, as well as having some similarity to the 2280's designs. For game use, it might have a adapter for docking with the Tai-class warp sled.
