    Exclamation First Spacedock Design Contest

Calling all Naval Architects and Starship Designers:

Here comes the first Space Dock Design Contest.

The Design Proposal can be found in the attached File.

Submissions can be sent to my Email Adress: loos.andreas@yahoo.de

The Contest ends May 15th 2008

    Submissions should be Word Format.

Voting will go over a period of two weeks after that. The Design with the most votes wins.

Lets see how this works out

Sounds like fun! Good luck all designers

I'm sincerly tempted to dig out my old Spacedock File and get into the system, but I kinda don't have the time. Too bad...

Probably a little Late but since this is the first Contest (and therefore a work in Progress)
I have thought about some "Have To's" for submissions

The Submission should fit the "Standard" Format found in the Corebook and the SRMs and should denote all SU's used in the Process.

Also Any Design Decision should be ideally explained (Just why does the Design has three Nacelles).
Also a little story would be nice even a notable Ship or two could breathe live in to one design (please note that in this contest there's got to be only one vessel so far the USS Orion namesake of its class, but other contests set in earlier eras may warrant the creation of other notable vessels)

Any Designs Submitted will be put up anonymously for voting in a poll.

Does anyone has further suggestions on how to conduct this?

Today is the last day of the first contest and no one has submitted a design.

Sad to say but unless tomorow someone has submitted a design the contest is a real disapointment. I was hoping for at least two designs but none are my worst fears become reality.

Ok, the time is up and the Winner is ... no one.

My worst fears have come true...

Do you want me to email what I got, or just post it?

In this case I think you can just post it, as the contest is technically over, and tere won't be any Poll determining which design wins.

It doesn't have a description. However, what I was thinking of was a fast, small, comfortable AWACS ship. Small, fast, hard to detect . . . survivable.

I used the Extended Range Microtorpedos that I developed for the CVLX Project with the CIWS firing option for the Microtorpedo launcher turret . . . if it is not agreeable . . . I can always move some SUs around and replace them with low level Phasers.

    Fleet data:
    Gaming notes:
Normal Power Available during Full Impulse Combat Settings (Non-essential systems powered down, Shields up) (NOT including non-normal power sources (Normal power sources = Warp Engine and Impulse Engine power only)): 167
CIWS Firing rules: To attempt to hit a missile weapon target add +3 difficulty to the standard range difficulty. If roll equals difficulty, target is severely damaged and moves one hex (30,000m) in a random direction. Role 1d6 to determine direction (1-forward, 2=forward right of original direction of travel, 3=backward right of original direction of travel, etc.). Target then detonates in that hex. If roll is +1 greater then difficulty, target detonates in hex where hit doing 1/2 damage then normal. If role is +2 (or more) greater then difficulty target is destroyed and does not detonate.

Looks good, but whats the primary function of the attack fighters? Scouting, escort?
Could they be replaced by Talon Scouts for a more peaceful operation? Likewise why did you gave it a Pulsephaser instead of a normal one (i was just wondering since Pulse Phasers are a bit single minded in their use, and Starfleet emphasizes versatility).
As for the CIWS system i think it has never been play tested so I'm not 100% sure about its usefulness
