    Vessel of the Lost Era

So I'm running a 'pilot episode' in a few weeks for what I hope with be a new Star Trek camapign (if not at least it'll make for a darn fun one-shot!). The story is set in the year 2308, a few years before the Tomed Incident.

In trying to decide what vessel the PCs should use I'm running into a lack of info on what ships were available at the time. More specifically, I'm trying to find images of vessels, canon or not, that would have been relatively new during this period.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Any help would be much appreciated.

Interesting idea, some great places to start.

Miranda class of course, and the Excelsior-class starship are naturals. State of the Art would be Ambassador-class.

The SRMs would be a good place to start as well.

I found this basic timeline on line, and a fancy HTML version here.

The Constellation Class was rather new then as well. According to Price of Freedom she was commissioned 2304. Merced-Class was comissioned 2312. Aacording to all books I have, Ambassador-Class was commissioned 2322, thus the largest ship available at that time would be Excelsior-Class.

A future BTFF article will have stats for the Merced, Apollo and Renaissance classes, and maybe other ships of that era. It just might be a few months down the road : P

The Excelsior-class study models that show up in the background can be used as designs contemporary with the post-movies timeframe.

    Oops...

Still, nothing wrong with the Excelsior, and some of the other classes you mentioned.

I always thought this would be a good era to game in. I mean Tash Yar comes from a failed colony, with rape gangs running around. Exciting time to game in if the Federation goes through changes which make them cut off contact with some colonies.

    Good stuff.
