    Hello All

Hey guys I am new here. Great Site by the way.
Anyway I am going to be be starting a "Table Top" Star Trek TNG Game in the near future (LUG)
Now I would like to start the Game After the last official T.V./Movie episode was aired and was wondering if anyone can tell me, What exactly is the state of the Known Galaxy.
Who are allies of the Federation?
    who are still enemies?
What ever happened to the Jem'Hadar?
How are relations with the Romulans?
    How about Cardassia?

Anyway I think you understand what I am asking.
    Any help would be appreciated.

As of 2379ish, the major allies are the Klingons. The Ferengi, Bajor, and possibly a postwar Cardassia are all friendlies, but after the Dominion War the UFP, the Klingons, and the Romulans are the only known remaining superpowers in the explored alpha/beta quadrant.

    who are still enemies?
The Breen, the Tzenkethi, possibly the Miradorn, and possibly a postwar Cardassia.

What ever happened to the Jem'Hadar?
They serve the Founders. It is the order of things.

How are relations with the Romulans?
They were allies in the Dominion War, but after the Reman coup of 2379 most of the Senate (presumably) is dead. They might be friendly, they might not.

    How about Cardassia?
Over 800 million Cardassians were killed on the homeworld alone. Three years of near-constant warfare has destroyed their economy. Their civilisation is ruined, and the generation that grew up with that will have to either abandon the xenophobia of their old culture and rely on others to survive or self-destruct in petty violence amid the broken pieces of their culture.

    Welcome to the forum!

It's a bit open to interpretation in a lot of areas..

The Klingons were decimated during the war. They 'won' but their civilisation is virtually bankrupt, and severely shrunk (a lot of brave warriors died) they may have to re-think.

The Federation is mostly ok, but they will have a lot of war victims, sand veterans to deal with. In some ways it was strengthened, once the seeds of corruption were fought, but there some dark secrets at the heart of it all that could damage it if they got out (section 31 mischief!)

The Ferengi.. who can say, Rom might get kicked out after a week.. or they could undergo the most massive change in their culture!

The Romulans.. Also hard to say. They may be the strongest allies with the Federation ever. They were hugely wounded by the war, and depleted (but all were!) The actions of Nemesis could be good or bad. The remaining Romulans, in the military, would be the very people who fought alongside the Federation, which could sow a seed of change, OR the destroyed government could lead to something completelly different. It's hard to say.

Cardassians - yep pretty much dead, there population was massacred, and their economy and military strength more or less destroyed. The only one thing they do have is some very advanced technology, it just depends if the Dominion shared any. The Cardassians before the war were always slightly behind the Federation, but the Dominion were quite a bit ahead, so there could be some Cardassian scientists who know a LOT.

The interesting players in this era IMHO will be exactly what would make for good games: All the minor / outside powers: What if a client race of the Klingons choses to cede from them, and the Klingons aren't strong enough to stop them.. What if someone on the other side of the Romulan Empire decides to make a tactical push (the old nemesis!) Cannonically we don't know much about the other side of the various empires, who else they crushed! Closer to home, old enemies and alies might change allegiances: What if the Gorn decide to take advantage of the Federations weakness, or maybe something whacky like the Breen turn on a major power, using stolen Dominion technology? Lots of story possibilities!

This is a copy and paste of the Star Trek Online MMO, of the timeline they are using to get the date upto 2409, the start of the game.

Following the death of Praetor Shinzon at the Battle of Bassen Rift, the Romulan government fell into disarray. Tal'aura, one of the few remaining members of the Romulan Senate and a former ally of Shinzon, declares herself the new Praetor, supported by Fleet Commander Tomalak as the new leader of the Imperial Defense Force.

However, Tal'aura's leadership is opposed by Commander Donatra, who with the support of Commander Suran and former Admiral Braeg retains control of the majority of the Fifth and Third fleets. Any hope of a reconciliation between the two sides ends after the execution of Braeg, and Donatra vows never to accept Tal'aura's rule.

Donatra's rebellion is not Tal'aura's only concern. The Remans, led by General Xiomek of the Reman Kepeszuk Battalion, demand control of either a continent on Romulus or a planet with sufficient natural resources to maintain self-sufficient settlements as reparations for hundreds of years of slavery and exploitation. In response, Tal'aura cuts shipments of food and needed supplies to Remus and commands Tomalak to blockade the planet.

In Federation space, the USS Enterprise-E undergoes a major repair and refit and resumes its mission of exploration. About half of her crew transfers to other posts during the months-long overhaul, including senior staff officers William T. Riker and Deanna Troi, who are posted on the USS Titan, and Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher, who briefly serves as head of Starfleet Medical before returning to the Enterprise.

Two trials are of note during this time. On stardate 56867.84, the Founder known as the Female Changeling is sentenced for crimes committed against sentient beings during the Dominion War and committed to the Federation maximum security facility at Ananke Alpha. And on stardate 58370.4, Ro Laren surrendered to Starfleet custody. A former member of Starfleet who defected to the Maquis in 2370, Ro plead guilty to charges of desertion and was ordered to report to a penal facility on Earth for rehabilitation.

Federation analysts continue to monitor the deepening economic crisis on Cardassia Prime. The Cardassians were devastated by Dominion bombardment in the final days of the Dominion War, suffering more than 800 million casualties. Large portions of Cardassia Prime remain in ruins and the Cardassian government does not appear to have the resources to recover, although it has rejected most Federation aid.

A notable exception to this stance is the Andak project, a Federation-funded program intended to restore Cardassia Prime's agricultural base. Led by Keiko O'Brien, the Andak project initially faced stiff resistance from xenophobic groups such as the True Way and Gul Macet's conservative bloc of the government. Only the influence of Cardassian governmental adviser Elim Garak, a supporter of the fledgling democracy movement, allowed the Andak project to proceed, and work is now in progress to make the barren desert climate of Cardassia Prime support sufficient crops to feed its population. Experts at the Daystrom Institute predict that without more successful projects like the Andak initiative, the Cardassian Union could fall in as little as three years.
