Exclamation New Trek movie on hold due to financial crisis?

I have picked up this rumour over at a german RPG site.

There a regular poster (hailing from Switzerland) claims to have read in his local newspaper, that Star Trek XI right now is on hold due to considerations if the studio can actually afford the (post-)production right now.

The poster is usually very reliable and I don't see why she would have made this news up, if she hadn't actually read about this. I didn't reveal anything when I googled for the subject. So I ask you guys:

Do you know anything of this?

    Boxoffice...

I have spoken more with the swiss source and the newspaper claims that the movies and the post-production aren't the issue, but that the amount of money made at the box office is. Evidently there are fewer people going to the movies right now and so some blackbusters are being held back. The article mentions Transformers 2 as well...

More as I get news about it.

What was the box office financial outlook of the last early summer? Iron Man did pretty well when they opened in the US in the month of May.
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

More to the point, if it's true, why is a Swiss paper reporting this and American sources not?

    Because Hollywood controls US media.

Haha yes American media are somewhat in the doghouse over accuracy lately

There could be a lot of truth in it, but so long as they don't move the time for it's release AGAIN it doesn't really matter either way!

But that's why they love talking about Hollywood; it's a distraction from important (and presumably more difficult) reporting.

What news is so important to report from Switzerland?

After seeing the trailer, my thoughts are verging on the "hopefully"...

One can only hope that would be true.
