    Return of the King Sourcebook.

Since decipher kicked the bucket.. and interest is waning. Does anyone know who has the treasured ROTK Sourcebook at leat in a text format. I would love to get my hands on it.

Also what were the title of the other editions to the LOTR RPG line going to be?

    Hey Vaughan

I don't think this book ever made it to any document form. I could be wrong, but all the stuff I know of that was being playtested was Fields of Battle (Warrior and Barbarian Sourcebook) and Songs of Power (Rogues and Minstrels)... or whatever it was supposed to be titled.

I wrote about a third of the ROTK sourcebook and to the best of my knowledge it was never compiled into a complete document. I know we playtesters never got it--the line was canned right about the time it was being worked on. I have my chunk of the text in a word doc, but not the rest of the book.

The books that were playtested but never released include:

Fields of Battle: The Guide to Barbarians and Warriors
Song and Shadow: The Guide to Rogues and Bards
    Rohan: Realm of the Horse-Lords
    ROTK Adventure Game

There was also going to be a 32-page The Hobbit booklet, but I don't know what happened with that. I think the writers finished it but it didn't make it to the playtesters.

Are any of these beauties available in any form to use in a game?

Not unless you were a playtester, no. The playtest documents were PDFed Word documents containing the completed first draft text. It's possible some of those docs are on a torrent somewhere, but I honestly don't know. The playtesters I worked with on the LOTR game were good people and I don't think any of them would have posted the confidential files online. I know I didn't.

Ooooh, we share the interest in the same two books. Those were the ones I wanted to see as well.
