    Cool Campain Reboot

Well, I've decided to take my campaign in a whole new direction - sort of... Over the years, I've played around with time travel and alternate universe plots. It's sort of become my stock-in-trade, if you will. The crew of the runabout Lena have been involved in many such adventures, and I decided that it was about time Starfleet did something about it. They've been investigated a couple of times by DTI, and now the Inspector General's Office has sent out a Commander Smith to interrogate them about the oddities in their reports. Last session, I revived an old (15 years ago real-time) plot-line, a cross-over with a mirror-Star Wars universe, when an old character , an R-2 unit named "Wesson" came to them for help and they encountered a Super Star-Destroyer which is searhing for a Jedi Knight named Juran who had come back with a previous bunch of characters. Wesson desperately wants to track down the Jedi, who has disappeared, as do a pair of mysterious armoured NPCs named Lord and Lady Vader, the twin protegees on Emperor 0B-1 Kenobi. They've been releived of their positions at Dyson Base, presumably in "disgrace" over an event involving their mirror doubles, and assigened undercover to the SS Rising Sun, a Raven-type ship. With them are Wesson, a half Klingon con artist named Henri K'Rang, a FIS agent named Jonathan D'Arcy, and a female gambler named Giovana del Chiaro, along with their interdimensional cohort, Gurrrps, a Slarg from the Fringeworthy RPG. Things promise to get weird(er) from here on in.

You need a self-aware food-preparation maintenance and hygiene unit somewhere in there.

Are you sure this was Star Trek you were playing? It sounds more like Murphy's World. Mind you, I still recall a very strange game I ran in which a Gamma World mutant, a Cornish ogre and a Blue Star adept (from the Thieves' World anthologies) all got dropped into 1870s New Mexico, shot up the local desperadoes, found out the desperadoes' relatives were coming after them, and had a spectacularly smashing Butch-and-Sundance-meet-the-Bolivian-army standoff only to be rescued at the last moment by a band of bizarrely-dressed midgets carrying an odd map which showed the location of all the holes in the fabric of the universe.

Wow, and I felt guilty borrowing some obscure little details from other genre.

Owen, I’ve seen some around somewhere. I think they were in one of the fan made sourcebooks floating around on your Memory ICON site?

Well, I found a satisfactory set of stats on the web. I now present the SS Rising Sun.

Aerie Class Surveyor SS Rising Sun
    Length: 90m
    Beam: 57.5m
    Draught: 16m
    Mass: 5300t
    Crew: 2-10
    Cruising Speed: WF5
Maximum Speed: WF8 for 12 hours
    Phasers: Type VII
    Photorps: 1fv
    Computers: 2
    Transporters: 1 personnel, 1 cargo
    Shuttles: 1 type 6

    Captain: Lt Cdr. M'Rel
    Science Officer: Lt. Seth Bern
    Medical Officer: Lt. Acquaal Leiliri
    Engineer: Lt. Tal
    Engineering Droid: Wesson
    Intelligence: FIS SA Jonathan D'Arcy
    Specialist: Henri K'Rang
    Specialist: Giovanna del Chiaro
    Supernumerary: Gurrrps

This promises to be a lot of fun, and I see no problem playing a crossover-heavy game and keeping it Trek.

Well, I got the campaign mostly uploded, but I still have to finish the vaders. They currently show a Stormtrooper's skillset. Oh, well, I'll get to it tomorrow...

Reminds me of an idea I had years ago for a crossover. THe character would be rebles in the Star Wars universe who stumble across some alien ship. The ship turns out to be a Klingon B7rel class (possibly with one or more surviving crewmen) than had a slingshot accident that tossed in in the rebels lap.

From there I figured the campa9ign would take a sort of Blakes' 7 theme, with the rebels having a ship that could cloak, and seriously outgun anything its size. It would need a hyperdirve.

BTW, Own what is your take on Star Wars tech vs. Star Trek tech? I've seen some compasions on line but most seem to be biased. StarWars sites have Star Wars tech all better, and Star Trek sites have Star Trek stuff superior. Personally, I think most Trek stuff is more advanced except for warp drive vs. hyperdrive.

Just looking at the sources and trying to make a fair judgment it seems obvious that either Trek ships have much better fire control, or Star Wars ships have much better ECM, or gunners in Star Wars just can't shoot.

Well, hyperdrive seems to be faster, or distances in the Star Wras galaxy are shorter. It's been stated that Lasers can't penetrate Trek shields, but Ion cannons cant take shields down. Blasters are obviously equal to phasers, complete with Stun settings, but incapable of higher settings, like disintegrate. Robotics is highly developed, and sensor are shorter ranged. Onlt capital ships can have cloaks. Otherwise, I put them as equivalent.

Bit of a wishy-washy answer, but that's how I see it. Sometimes you have to compare apples to oranges.
