TOS for beginners: Which episodes first

So I was weak.

I let me be accompanied into Star Trek - The Movie by my girlfriend.

She now seems to develope some sort of interest for the matter. Mostly the stuff I claim to be "the original".

I was reluctant to share so far, keeping Star Trek as sort of my personal refugium, leaving her to her Medical - series (she studies Medicine).

But now I might have to show her some TOS episodes that capture the feeling that I missed in the new movie.

Any suggestions from you guys?

I am looking for good character moments, interesting storylines and plain good-ol' Star Trek feel!

I'll take a look at those.

One that I had as "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky".

I very much like that episode.

I would add Return to Tomorrow (classic love story) to the Season 2 list, but otherwise those are pretty much my choices.

Season One: Balance of Terror - it's the first Romulan Episode and has a nice "Submarine"-Atmosphere in it.

Like Sarge and Evan just did, I would ask you to give me one or only a few episodes that I can actually show in one evening.

I keep TDK's list printed out and look over the epsiodes (and my old VHS material, where most of my TOS collection rests) and will see what I can come up with.
