Yeah I've seen Bernd furiously arguing his case on some other sites, and at the end of the day it's his opinion, and with a huge website to post up his own theories, who am I to tell him not to do it. I've seen arguments to the contrary, as well, and frankly I am more convinced by them, but without hard figures, yes, it's going to be a bitter debate for some time, especially when people won't believe facts from the production company

and again, any schmuck can just hit the scale button inside their 3D app.. but you will have to re-size any scale-specific items, such as shuttlebay items, to match their real world sized counterparts, which, if it's hugely detailed, can take an absolutely HUGE amount of effort! And having spent about 4 years building my station, if someone were to hold a press conference, and ask me how big it is - I would have to go 'uh, I will go and check' because I do not carry measurements in my pocket, in case someone asks I expect most of the contradictory measurements are because someone has said 'about 2000ft' and it's been taken verbatim.

and yeah mechascorpio, I agree, I've had enough now. Jesus could come down with a choir of angels and tell people the size of the enterprise, down to the nearest foot, and hal the fans would come along and tell him he was wrong

I bet we'll get a definitive answer the same time we hear back about the Klingon BoP...

And that answer will hold until the next film.

Pretty much every SF ship's dimensions are subject to change without notice.

I would like to know, but it's not keeping me up at night or anything. The only driving reason I have for asking- and it's really for the kelvin, actually- is because I wanted assemble a toolkit to make other ships and it would be nice to be able to scale it to other toolkits out there, ya know?

You might find this post and image helpful from over at SciFi Meshes, where someone made a toolkit to help whip up the Kelvin, the "Quad" and the "Trike":

It certainly shows how "fast and loose" directors can be with things. Rather than the ship being a certain size be design, it just ended up bigger as a side effect of a larger shuttlecraft.
