    2nd Five Year Mission information?

So I am re-watching the Director's Cut of Star Trek The Motion Picture and I really like it. Especially compared to the new version of the ST universe.

So I am looking for information and data (and some input) about the second five year mission of the refitted Enterprise under Kirk and Spock.

What good novels are set in this era?

What other information is out there?

Memory Alpha isn't offering very much, which is not surprising, as the second five year mission is not really Canon as it is.

So offer me some insights, feelings, ideas and hints...

Try Memory Beta which encompassed non-canon works for guidance.

Try to get a book called Captain's Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages. It includes a chapter with some plot outlines for the cancelled TV series Star Trek: Phase II. Aside from Spock being replaced by a younger Vulcan, it could be a good source of ideas for what could have happened in the time period you're interested in.

Forgot about that except I got a "Star Trek: Phase II" book that out lines what the plans were and how they morfed into the movie.
