A few months back, Jewel and I came across a few pictures on the internet of a hand holding a hand made micro machine size starships that the one that was called a Federation Nova Concept. http://www.neutralzone.de/database/indexfra.htm It appeared to look like a ship similar to the Galaxy-class with an Intrepid and Miranda-class sitting in the hand next to them. This Nova concept has traits of both the Galaxy-class and an intrepid class.
The saucer is more to the look of the elliptical Galaxy-class but the look the longer like an arrowhead/duckbill shape (like Voyager’s Intrepid-class). The engineering hull reflects the engineering hull of the intrepid-class with the warp nacelles deployed horizontal to the hull and the nacelles look to be the Galaxy-class nacelles.
In the picture, Voyager at 344.42 meters and the Miranda laid at a length of 274 meters and for now, I concentrate on Voyager and the concept. At first glance, it looks that the concept is twice the length of Voyager so the concept would be around 690 meters in length. This would make the ship longer than the Galaxy-class and the Sovereign-class. On the second look, I see that the Intrepid is two-finger width where the concept is three finger width long measuring in at around 520 meters. Then looking at the Miranda a single finger width in length and this gives the ship a closer to 520 meters in length.
Concept #1 – 688.84 meters long x 423.9 meters a beams x 158.3 meters in height and with 35 decks and would put it size 8.
Concept #2 – 516.63 meters long x 317.9 meters a beams x 118.82 meters in height and with 26 decks and would put it size 7.
Concept #3 – 822 meters in length x 509.64 meters a beam x 189.06 meters in height and with 42 decks would put length into size 10 and the width and height in to size 9. Not sure what I will do about that for now it will be on a back burner.
All three will look good in size for a starship.
Next, I looked at the visible weapons systems the phaser arrays.
The dorsal saucer looks to have four phaser strips covering 90 degrees each. The aft dorsal of each warp nacelle has a phaser strip and then one across where I would estimate the shuttle bay would be. The ventral of the ship starting with the saucer has three phaser strips, a phaser array in then usual position on the Engineering hull covering the belle and then the end of both of the warp nacelles.
Being the ship looks to be an Explorer at least as equal to that the Galaxy-class starship.
Concept #1 – for the ships I figures that the crew would be between 720 to 1170 crew so I took the crew as 720 and 450 passengers with 20,000 evacuation capacity.
Concept #2 – 540 crew and 450 passengers and 7,000 evacuation capacity.
Concept #3 – 900 crew and 600 passengers with 25,000 evacuation capacity.
I started looking at the construction of these three and used the Galaxy-class as a base line and generating up the starship.
Sense the nacelles look a lot like a Galaxy class I decided on changing the Type 6D9 with the Type 6D98. The only difference is that the maximum warp speed is now 9.982.
As for the Phasers, I gave them all the same systems settings with an interchangeable firing with over lapping fields of fire so that they do not have the flip floppy firing of other class designs. The torpedo launchers I estimated that they would be at least the same as the Galaxy-class over the Intrepid-class’s torpedo launcher with almost as many torpedoes carried in the ship.
The First of the concept design I decided to name as a Galactic-class Explorer. It is a mirror design generated out of the Galaxy-class development project.
The Second of the concept design I decided to name as the Cosmos-class light Explorer.
The Third of the concept design I decided to name, after a good length of time of thinking, as the Colossal-class Heavy Explorer (being it is size nine or ten).
These vessels are presented in their first write up without going back and making edits to the ship after running it though the testing that I usually do.
