Thread: 28mm TOS miniatures. New ones.

    Thumbs up 28mm TOS miniatures. New ones.

    Am I the only one that missed this? According to the website, this guy started sculpting TOS-style minis in late 2006. Now you can purchase a set from his website for a donation. See the link and attached pic. This is long overdue. I want to buy this guy a beer. (But after I buy a couple sets of minis, of course.)

    This may very well kick start my gaming after many years.

    hmmm. As a miniatures man (my other big genre hobby) I dont know what to think.

    These are a bit simple for me (I know that this is the nature of the beast though with the multi-part options...), but as he says on his own website the difficulty is that;
    a. There is nothing else out there.
    and b. If it attracts too much attention the Paramount will just shut it down.

    On the whole its non too bad. I know from experience that sculpting these suckers is a trick, and proportions are difficult enough with detail, that often these over-blown proportions are neccesary...

    I think I would like some extra options with the bodies, and smoe more stick-on phasers communicators, even a captain in command chair with only an optional head...

    but mostly a bit of Greenstuff and a lick of paint and these could be quite funky. May have to get a small set and see where it takes me.

    Edit. And the order is made...

    If you go down the bottom of the page, under the picture of the painted mini's, but before the comments, he asks for a donation, look for this little pic used as a link to his paypal page;

    Its in UK pounds at £10, but thats including postage worldwide.

    I am guessing that he is doing these as close to non-profit as possible to avoid a cease and decist letter.

    MegaMinis also has some STOS-looking minis in their Ebay store, as well as sickbay beds, command chairs and consoles.

    I am very unimpressed with Mega Minis... Great value, but the castings are of particularly poor quality.
