    Cretok Nor

Well, as part of my ongoing campaign, which has just been moved to the Cardassian station Cretok Nor, I've rolled up a new batch of characters. Three of them are Lieutenant Seth Bern's siblings; Vedek Seth Zurich, his eldest brother, Maquis Terrorist Seth Cern, his middle brother; and Lieutenant (jg) Seth Jaya, his younger sister, who is a Science Officer (Botany) on the Challenger. One is his cousin, Seth Jann, a bartender at Queeg's Bar, and the last is Commander M'Rel's twin brother, Federation Envoy M'Rek. Should be fun dangling from all those plot hooks. BWAH-hah-hah-HAH!

As well, while the characters were doing some hacking to see if their new friend LCdr. N'rrmall (cutest catian in all the Federation) was actually bad at darts or just hustling them), I had them look at his on-line skill list, and they found out that he's their new XO on their next assignmant (which Starfleet had not yet announced). My mills grind slowly...

    Thumbs up

I must dig out my CODA rulebooks... This makes me think of 'Task Force 20' out of the Starships book.
I do like the 'Checkpoint Charlie' sectors of Cretok Nor. Friday nights at the bar must be really rowdy with a Klingon contingent on board...

Yeah, Cretok Nor is definitely set up to be a Berlin 1960's type campaign. It's going to be amusing with the Rommies in a post-Nemesis fooforaw. I'm currently developing the crew of the USS Rising Sun - the Defiant class only has 40 crew, so I'm able to come up with the entire crew. I found an on-line game set on a Defiant that had an entire list of positions and tinkered with to get my crew, complete with HoloDoc and Wesson, the Engineering droid... So many of these on-line games are not too well thought-out, complete with "Emergency Command Holograms" and Acquisition Officers (Ferengi). Some of them are downright silly, including one that had a whole bunch of Animal characters. Caitians I can handle, but Mousians? Give me a break!

Anyway, I have a bunch of characters to roll up and develop to the point that when one gets killed the PCs feel like they knew them.

Hmm, I've been trying to draw up crew listings for the Defiant (and the Nova) myself. The only sensible break-down of a ship's crew I have is from the old Khai Tam book. Any chance you could point me to that Defiant listing?

[Oh, and yeah, there are some 'jump the shark' sites out there. A Nebula with a permanently-moored Defiant-class in place of its upper module...]

Oh, I've got a 23rd century escort vessel that has a slightly larger crew manifest (43 crew total) that I was looking to do something like this for. This actually saved me a great deal of time.

Thank you! This will be handy for my own post-Dominion war series set around 2376; the Starfleet-led "peacekeeping" force has the USS Hoplite, a former convoy-raiding Defiant-class on its rolls.

As much trouble as Sisko's ship, but worse, in a way -- no cloaking device, so Hoplite's CO compensates with low cunning...

Whew. One of my favourite parts of any game is generating characters, but I'm getting a bit worn out generating the Rising Sun's Crew. Only 19 left to go...

I've also got Rebecca Sullivan-Eddington and Admiral James Leyton done up... Once I'm finished, I've got a huge UL to do!

Wow, you're doing them all by hand, Owen?

I tend to rely on tools for this type of job, like TableSmith or (for Trek) the Trek Character Generator program.

Maybe you should crowdsource it : P I'm sure we can come up with 19 crewmembers between us.

No need - got another week and a half to do it. At 2-3 characters a day, no problem. Thanks for the offer, anyway. Many of them are based on my friends or ideas I already have.

Major update tonight. Info on the Maquis, Romulans and Empok Nor, as well as the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition (found a site that filled in the "missing" ones with fan-created ones that fit in with the style).

...A-a-a-and I only have 10 more NPC's to go. Should get that done today or tomorrow.
