Question Constitution-class vessels from TOS remastered.

No biggie, I just wanted to know if there was some internal canonical reason for having less windows on the "neck" portion of the ship. I just recently noticed that the TOS remastered ship has like 20 some-odd less windows than the original TV model.

I don't know if there is a reason per se, but they did move the photon torpedo bay to the base of the neck from the saucer section, and you probably don't want windows in that part of the ship.

I think that's pointless. Christ, it's not a Galaxy Class, or Ambassador Class, the forward launcher(s) should go in the saucer.

    Why so serious?

The forward launchers on the refit Constitution have been just above the navigational deflector on the base of the neck since 1979, before the Galaxy or Ambassador was a gleam in Gene Roddenberry's eye.

Heck, even J.J. "water walker" Abrams kept the Con's torps on the secondary hull near the base of the neck.

Actually Meteo since the torpedoes have to remain close to the launchers it makes since even on the more combat oriented vessels to keep them away from the main decks. You're not going to put the potentially explosive items next door to where people are living in case of an accident. Which is why things like the torpedoes and main engineering are not in the saucer on most designs.

Uh, we're talking about the Constitution Cass from TOS, not TMP.

And what's so wrong about a little seriousness?

Looking back, it seems I read "remastered" as "refit" I see now that we are talking about the new versions of the original series episodes. My bad

There's nothing wrong with some seriousness, its just that too much of anything can be bad. Well, except for rum

Sweet. Now that's all cleared up!

I was considering asking the question on a higher-profile board, but with all the fan traffic I'm not sure it would get any notice.

Guys like Doug Drexler has to have noticed this already.

Yeah, I know that, known that for years.

...And someone brought up the TMP Enterprise, so that's what I was responding too.

...And clblank, good one, I was thinking of where the torps were fired in the old TOS episodes, saucer forward ventral, near the forward phasers.
