Question Pretend you're Starfleet Command for a sec. . .

It's 2268 and you've just received a report that a member of the Orion syndicate has just successfully hijacked a Federation starship and disappeared with it.

You don't have the resources to comb the entire quadrant.

What standing order would you give to all starship commanders in the fleet regarding this?

Change and/or update all security protocols. Change all access codes, frequencies, etc.
Broadcast the ship's registration with order to consider any encounter with it as very dangerous.

Depending on where the theft occurred, it could be also a good idea to warn the closest starship to be on the lookout for. This is especially relevant if the theft was close to the Klingon or Romulan Neutral Zone: you certainly would not want this ship to cause a war... (as for warning the enemy that one of your ship was stolen... Maybe not the best diplomatic move either).

In addition to C5's suggestions, I would also activate any Starfleet Intelligence assets with connections in the Orion Syndicate as well as any agents period in the sectors where the hijacking took place to be on the lookout for clues to the fate of the missing starship and its crew

All of that, then I would send out a sub-space comm with the vessels pre-fix code, take control of the ship remotely and lock out all controls aboard ship, then I would either remote pilot it back to Starfleet or nearest ship or at the least shut everything down and broadcast location on a frquency of my choosing...

Hell, I might activate the self destruct and red alert klaxons only to cancel them for shits and giggles while we waited...
