I have been watching it, and so far I do like it. I wonder how it's doing with non-genre people though; my dad couldn't keep up with the flashbacks, and I'm sure he's done with it after the whole alien/future people/mutant angle came up.
I like the flashbacks though: it does remind me of stuff from comic books, where you might see Batman look at a playing card left at the scene, and then you get a page of him remembering first meeting the Joker, or something like that.
BTW, Jason Ritter is great in his role; a nice, normal guy, thrown into terrible, almost impossible situations.

Caught the 1st ep. but I missed the 2nd.Seemed ok,a bit annoying in the flashbacks though.
I love the show, it's not like anything I've seen before; love the flashback--very interesting way of progressing the story.
My mom and sister found the flashbacks too confusing and stopped watching; and dad dropped out when the plane vanished (he's not a fan of sci-fi; and he figured it was going to be a Hero type show so stopped tuning in).
WarriorKnight, if you can I'd highly recommend seeing if they have episode two on the web. Very good show.
Jason Ritter was a great choise of lead for the show. I had no idea he was related to John Ritter, now that I know there have been a few times now where he so reminds me of his dad; some of his mannerisms and facial expressions are just like his dad.

Yea Ritter is a very good actor.I'm looking to catching the other episodes.
I'm actually finding the flashbacks and Tarrantino style non-sequential plot shifts to be extremely annoying. I was hooked on Flashforward from the first five minutes. I can not say the same about The Event. I will give the show one more chance to capture my fancy. If they fail to do so next week then I'm done.

I can't say I've ever seen any of Tarrantino's work, but if it is similar to this I may have to check out some of his stuff.

This last episode did away with most of the Tarrantino stuff, which was nice, but then that forced the plot to carry the show and that didn't really work for me either. For me, The Event is going on the reject pile.

Pericles, how about one more chance to see if it can capture your fancy now that the Tarrantino style was dropped? Once more never hurts does it?
I've heard lots of people talk about Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction but I've never seen them myself. Checking them out is now on my list of things to do once things get back on a even keel around here.

I guess I can give it another try as it is on the DVR, but as my major problem now is that the plot isn't working for me, the style of direction has become rather academic at this point.

I caught the 1st and snippets of the 3rd episodes, pretty good i reckon
