Technical question to an "memory alpha" article

I was looking through the article discussing the first season TNG episode "The Arsenal of Freedom". When I came upon this line near the end:

'The closed captioning for this episode replaces the term "Erselrope wars" with "Romulan wars." '

    What does this mean?

Probably nothing. Closed captioning is regularly filled with stupid errors.

Closed captioning is used to show the words for the episode/news/what-have-you at teh bottom of the screen. Mostly used for subtitles in other languages, or for the hearing-impaired. Used around my house when we turn the volume down after the kids are in bed and my wife can't hear what's going on and I don't care because I've seen the film a dozen times and can quote the dialog without the sound being up enough for my wife....

It's probably from an early draft of the script.

I'm one of those closed-captioning people too... I tend to focus way more on what's going on if i can see the dialogue. Heh.
