The latest in Babylon 5 vs. Star Trek in battle is after showing them the video’s and playing the adventures posted earlier in this form, the group wanted to play the battle. So Dave and I sat down and set up the rules to go by that did not allow the one sided battle. We used this similar to the Dominion War battles or if playing a single ship in the battle we would roll a dice for what ship is next in the fight but that would not work here in the type of battle they wanted to fight.
In the setup I decided that the Federation and Babylon 5 fleets are From Mirror universes with the identical levels of technology levels to the Star Trek version and he Babylon 5 world. The fleets would have identical number of ships and the Babylon 5 fleet would have the Babylon 5 Station as one of the ships.
The groups selected teams and then chose the ships that they would be using in the game. The fleet lists below show the ships. The starships were the fleet arranged into battle wings and the arrangements and attack targets.
The outline of the game.
An aggressive Mirror Federation and a mirror Babylon 5 universe.
Note: after doing some minor figuring on paper the use of Star Trek 24th Century ship would over power the Babylon 5 fleet, with higher yield Photon torpedoes and heavier Phasers and not to forget Quantum Torpedoes.
Two equal groups of players each could have no more than six ships in their control. No ship beyond the end of the 23rd century. The Babylon 5 fleet of ships could not have any Vorlon, Shadows, or Ancients races.
The players had to name their ships and figure out the arrangement of the ships in their battle fleet. No two ships could have the same name on either side. One side of either side of the fleet has one ship that acts as fleet Admiral to arrange the attack and call the fight. Once the battle starts each of the individual players have the control of their wings (of six ships). The fight in the battle following a general outline plan.

Fighters only came into play when the Mirror-Federation ships lost their shields. The players had to roll for the Fighters blocking the path of the ships. If there was an impact to the shield the ramming factor applies to the shields only after taking off the threshold. If no shield ramming factors in to the hit.
Result of the game
177 ships in battle and one Space station in total battle between both fleets combined.
The Mirror Federation decimated with one Excelsior-class (badly damage), ten Miranda-class (three damaged not capable of battle, one adrift lose of warp drive, six survived minor damage only). One shuttlecraft left.
Babylon 5 fleet decimated 1 Omega Pulse Destroyer (disabled), 7 whitestars (damaged but still underway), 1 Minbari Warcruiser (damaged but still combat worthy) and the Babylon 5 Space Station destroyed. No more than thirty fighters left (two were Minbari).
Note: the interceptors worked only slightly better than previously. Even the Mk I interceptors worked well. The interceptors stopped one out of seven torpedoes and do not slow the on slough of Photon Torpedoes fired and one out of six Phaser shots fired.
Lighting Cannon on the Victory-class fired once and could not fire for twelve rounds the same time to recharge the main weapon in a game. (Suggest to cut down the repowering in half the time for the game as it left the destroyers highly venerable.
I believe the amounts of armor on the Babylon 5 ships tipped the balance if the game and the shields worked well on the Mirror Federation Fleet. The Babylon 5 fleet lost and the Federation fleet was largely destroyed in the battle. So it was a draw by my call. Let me know what you think.
The biggest draw back on the Whitstar ships was the lack of weapon on the aft, dorsal, ventral, port and starboard sides of the ship. The Miranda-class starship firing on the Whitestars causing sever damage before the Whitestar ships could respond. The Miranda-class’s seamed to fair far better in the battle lasting longer than most of the other ships in the battle.
This battle took place several nights of five to six hours each and the final round of the fight took a nine hours. The fifth night the reinforcements arrived adding the battle. The fleets had lost much of the fleets in the fight.
The first day of battle the fleets stood toe to toe not much change in the fight. They fired on one another but doing little damage to each other. The seconds night the battle lost a few ships in the battle. Third night several nights fighting intensified with bolder attacks. Fourth night many of the collected ships fell as the Babylon 5 fleet rallied to fight back bolder. Fifth night the two fleets received reinforcements in the fight (fresh ships causing even more damage). Sixth night the mirror Federation spiked deeper in to the Babylon 5 fleets striking hard at the Babylon 5 Space Station. Seventh day the Mirror Federation damaged the Babylon 5 station with several volleys of Photon Torpedoes striking the station.
Laying out the game on three tables a two card tables and a kitchen table in the middle laying out the battlefield. One centimeter equaling one MU distance. The collars with red for the Babylon 5 fleet and blue for the Federation fleet. To play the game in a two dimensional landscape is not as difficult as keeping the ships strait which ship is what using a triangular shape token to represent the ship as what ship is what. Each token is one centimeter in length with a number on it to track the ship.
I will post the Babylon 5 ships later on. I have to spiff them up and type some into the computer. I will post as a PDF file that has all the ships.
