    New Starship Material

Here is some new material and old ones I created for the Coda Starship combat system.

Conversion of the starship combat to a square grid based combat system
    New Maneuvers
    New Starship Traits
    New Profesional Abilities

    Red Alert.doc

I need some feedback on the rules, so any comment is more than welcome.

It looks interesting. One question I have is that you say to use the "1-2-1 rule", but then the example shows 1,2, and 2. Which is it?

Thanks for the reply. I must have missed it.
Diagonal move: 1–2–1 rule. First diagonal move costs 1 sq, the second 2 sq, and the third 1 sq. So a ship that moves 2 diagonal squares costs 3 sq.

Not really fond of using any kind of grid, or hex-system for anything in an RPG.

This reminds me that there was once mention of some sort of tactical starship combat game promised from Decipher? Did anyone ever see anything about that? Perhaps Mr. Burke or somebody who did playtesting saw something?

I thought it was slated to be called Engage but I can't find any facts to support my claim. Does that jog anyone's memory?

Yes, per the Narrator's Guidge on page 110, where they suggest we try a more strategic treatment of starship combat by using Decipher's Engage!

Star Trek: Red Alert! was the customizable disk game from Last Unicorn Games. Lots of fun, would've been cool if they'd tied it to ICON because then we could tweak it for use with CODA. Nicely abstract in terms of movement and whatnot.
