    NX Era Daedalus Class Crew.

Has anyone read the Enterprise novels where they talk about the Daedalus being an older ship that they refit as they are easier to build than the NX class? Have they mentioned what crew size they have?

I'm looking at the 105 meter version and based on the NX class I would think that a crew of 40 would be reasonable considering how small the ship is.

I've ditched the whole Daedalus as the type that has the big spherical primary hull - I've just never warmed to the look of it.

In my campaign, I've revised it so that the refit NX (the one with the added engineering hull) is renamed the Daedalus class and became the primary exploration ship of the post-2160s-ish era.

That means I have nice deckplans for it, and a lot of familiar visual hooks for my crew.

I have no real issues with the look of the Daedalus. And the rationale for it being an older ship class in the enterprise timeline works for me. it's alternate history star trek anyways. Doug Drexlers refit of the NX class is not bad looking at all and the deckplans that you can get are pretty sweet. Nothing for the secondary hull but not a huge issue. Though I'm a bit anal retentive and it would bug me to try and use it without havin plans for it. lol

In the end I'm just looking for people thoughts on the crew size for the enterprise era Daedalus with the tiny crews thet have.

If you're looking for a rationale, try this: The Daedalus spaceframe is designed to hurl crews far beyond the tight-knit group of systems that the NX-class muddled around in. They are manned by crews with a wide range of skills, who have to be ready to deal with any contingency, while also being able to construct or lay the foundations for bases, outposts, supply stations and orbital satellites as they pass, or to mine and refine sources of dilithium (or other resources) they find beyond known space.

*nods* I like it. But do you think a crew size of 40-60 is reasonable with that in mind. Because if you use the 105 meter length (which I most likley will), you can't fit too many in there if you consider the whoping 83 on a ship that's over 250 meters.

...I prefer to go for the Pre-ENT crew capacity of 229.

There has been a lot of debate over the Daedalus class, its size its crew etc. Hopefully this will help.

I personally prefer to go with the smaller size, but the larger size(s) are sometimes good and workable.
