    Unarmed Combat / Primitive Weapons

    Hey,

    I used to have a PDF which details many martial arts for ICON Trek and primitive weapons styles -- it apparently got lost in a harddrive transfer and I can't seem to find it on the internet anywhere either. Anyone still have this or know where to find it?

    I would cheerfully accept your Word version and return it to you as a PDF if you like. I have a new LUG game starting and this Sunday is Character Background day so I am trying to gather the materials I need back together. Any help would be appreciated. =)

    I have both .pdfs on my system back home... I didn't write them, just saved.

    I know exactly where they are as I was looking at them last night and drawing inspiration for a Bajoran Tai Chi (Tai-Pagh?)

    remind me when I get home from work and I will attached them both here =)

    I have a request regarding a martial arts style. In the Players Guide under the Betelgeuseans Race/Altaan Caste; it mentions an Unarmed Combat (Altaan Martial Arts).

    I was wondering if anyone has put effort into creating this fighting style? If not, would anyone be interested in assisting through the creation of this style? I don't feel comfortable with attempting to create a new fighting style and keeping it balanced.

    hmmm. OK... Lets see... Picking through the species description I pick out some key phrases to guide us;

    Betelgeusans follow a quasi-religious way of life called j'tonka, which translates as "The Path of Emulation."

    OK, so from that I am envisioning a pseudo Aikido style, blocks and dodges, using your opponants strength against them... Almost emulating the opponant and using their force to guide the response. this seems to be the key guiding phrase apart from the Followers of Altaa training as Warriors.

    Perhaps thats the core... Use the Aikido Universal and Basic maneuvers.

    But now you need to develop a key group of 3-4 advanced moves. Now remember your Universal and Basic maneuvers are available to all practitioners of the Martial Art. Advanced maneuvers you need to buy as a specialisation so you can give yourself a pick of a few that you like the look of and rename them. This should avoid being too unbalanced as you still need to work on the XP to become a master of the art.

    Now Aikido stated you need to also have a dodge skill at 2, now you dont have to keep this, and while its not a firm rule a decent rule of thumb to balance out your martial art is a skill level of requirement for each additional advanced maneuvre past 3 moves... (hope that makes sense)
