    And here we go again!

    And here we go again!

With the creation of the Star Wars ships the group has begged for another round of large cross over battle. With one faction wanting a rematch with the Babylon 5 vs. Star Trek, while another wanted a match up against the ships from Andromeda vs. Babylon 5, and another wanted a match up against the Star Wars Clone Wars vs. Babylon 5 and there was a few that had other ideas on what the match up should be. And with a majority vote of 60/40 for the rematch with the Babylon 5 vs. Star Trek. The game is called Strike back. The B5 fleet is going to attack the Alternate Federation space and the Star Trek ships are defending a planet with life and orbital stations.

This time the ships would be equal. It wasn’t till the couple of months later that I discovered that the count on the ships in the game was goofed up. There was 66 instead of 61 Federation Starships in the first assault on the Babylon 5 station in the game. Even though the mistake was made all the way around and even after the checking of the ships the number of ships may have tipped the game in somewhat but not enough. If you check the post you will see the miss count I left it just as it was as it was not that important and once I informed the Players of the miss count they were just humored is all.

    http://forum.trek-rpg.net/showthread.php?t=15886

The count was done by the two sides of the players with the generation of the game pieces that represented the specific vessels.

There was a series of tactical mistakes made by the forces on both sides that could have turned the battles tide to one way or the other at any time. One of the fatal mistakes was to pull the protective wing of Omega class Destroyers away from the Babylon 5 Station was one of the crucial mistakes costing the destruction of the Babylon 5 Station.

This time around the fleet will be comprised of ships from the following ships on these lists. This time the fleets are going to be equal with 100 ships or stations each side. Sense this time the Federation is defending the station and planet there will be in station and 99 starships at least. This time I will be counting to be sure. Collateral object in the battle zone will be parked cargo pods belonging to the P’Tolemy-Class cargo ships and defensive mines that are laid into the areas these have already been designated into the battle zone.

There is plenty other things there that is useful.

    Here is the Endgame notes

The battle between Star Trek and Babylon 5 the first time seamed rather a tie throughout as two great and powerful forces going head to head firing on each other taking out ships after ships on both sides. This time the battle looked a little… a lot one sided with a lot of good rolls and a lot of bad rolls.

The battle started with a small group of leading ships slipping through the dimensional rift from Babylon 5 to the Star Trek only to run in a field of mines that took out half the ships before the ships began taking out clusters of mines. Then the rest of the fleet arrived and the Federation fleet arrived and the battle began.

To my surprise the Babylon 5 fleet took action in a very coordinate method. They targeted the most dangerous Federations ships straight out and damaged them and the fighters slipped in and finished the ships off. Quickly the Federation fleet was cut down to half in the first night of the fight and the single station, Regula Research Station near the rift was easily taken out by the simultaneous firing of the two Victory class destroyers on the station while a full two Squadrons of smaller ships covered them. The first thing that I noticed that surprised me was the Interceptors of the Babylon fleet seemed to be far more accurate than I had ever seen them before.

Second night the Babylon 5 fleet pushed on to the orbit of the planet and opened fire on the ships there cleaning their clocks in a quick battle. The Babylon 5 fleet was having such a roll of good luck with the dice that I had to check them out to see if they were rigged but they were nothing that I could see that was different than others and I rolled several snake eyes in checking them so that was not the problems. I never saw so many good rolls.

Third night the game continued and the Babylon 5 fleet boarded the federation fleets primary space station Watchtower Class Space Station and raided the station for technology and personnel that instituted the first raid on the Babylon 5 Station. The second smaller Regula Research Station was destroyed by the Victory class destroyers and a squadron of Whitestars.

The fourth night the Watchtower Class Space Station was whipped out in the departure and the Babylon 5 fleet slipped through the rift but a pair of Whitestars I had been wondering what they were doing as a far rear defense dropped a load of fusion bombs at the event horizon of the dimensional rift before slipping through themselves.

The remains of the Federation Fleet a several ships a mix of Miranda, Constitution, Loknar-class’s and one Saladin-class that were damaged but were still combat ready followed the Babylon 5 fleet only to get caught in the blast of the Fusion bombs and the collapse of the rifts opening.

The Federation fleet was devastated beyond what I thought was anything that could have happened but here it is. The Babylon fleet lost seventeen ships and returned through the rift more than intact.

I could not help but rule that the Babylon 5 universe Starfleet was the overwhelming winner to the battle. The heavy fire power firing on a single target in a single round was devastating attacks on the target.

This round of the Babylon 5 vs. Star Trek went far easier than the first time. Instead of the players fighting their own battle they worked in a team while the other side was still fighting as an independent forces that each was trying win without support. Talking to the Babylon 5 group the attack plan was planed and orchestrated by one of our younger players. I was impressed by the plan that was effective. The plan was simple, advance and destroy and then hold position and then repeat step.

Afterwards Jewel did the figure that the Interceptors stopped 91% of incoming Federation phaser fire and 97 % of Photon torpedoes fire. So the interceptors are 94% accurate in their defensive measures. Most of the Star Trek ships missed hitting their targets but the Babylon 5 fleet rarely missed their targets. Targets hit Babylon 5 fleet of ships 85% of target his in comparison to the Star Trek ships of 23% of ships hit. Just the luck of the roll.

    5 Saladin-class Destroyers (Modified)
48 Work Bee Version Killer Bee Phaser Mounted Combat
24 Work Bee Version Killer Wasp Photon Torpedo Mounted Combat
    1 Watchtower Class Space Station
2 Regula Research Station (Star Trek II)

A hand full federation and Klingon shuttles escaped from the battle by heading to a nearby planet. The Federation Dry docks and most of the cargo pods parked near the Watchtower Class Space Station were left mostly untouched receiving only minor damage to them. One cargo pod exploded when a Federation ship collided with the cargo pod filled with compressed Deuterium.

The Work Bee Version Killer Bee Phaser Mounted Combat craft was little effect against the Babylon 5 vessels as their phasers were too low of yield to do any real damage to a starship. The Babylon 5’ starfighters were able to destroy them quickly enough in fighting. On the flip side the Work Bee Version Killer Wasp Photon Torpedo Mounted Combat craft were more successful until their torpedoes were expended and they had to maneuver away.

I thought that the ships did well enough and the game ran smoother than the first time that I would consider doing another Star Trek vs. Babylon 5 or something similar to that. I keep suggesting a Babylon 5 vs. Andromeda would make an interesting battle but I have had no takers. I believe the Andromeda’s heavy fire power that against the most powerful Babylon starship.
