Starship shield power cost

I have a question regarding the power cost for Shields:
Which of the two formula is the right one, because I've read the rules on all 3 books regarding defensive systems power consumtion (DS9 pg 215, TNG 217, and Star trek pg 140) and I can interpret it on 2 different ways.

A)
1 power point per shield (for+aft) per protection per round up to the standard level + 3 power points per shield per protection per round up to their maximum level

or

B)
1 power point per protection per round up to the standard level + 3 power points per shield per protection per round up to their maximum level.


Examples:

A) 50/75 Shield set on 60 protection
For Shield upto stardard level 50 power
Aft Shield upto stardard level 50 power
For Shield upto 60 protection 30 power
Aft Shield upto 60 protection 30 power
Total power for shield 160 power points

B) 50/75 Shield set on 60 protection

Shield upto stardard level 50 power
For Shield upto 60 protection 30 power
Aft Shield upto 60 protection 30 power
Total power for shield 110 power points


So you see its a 50 point difference, so any help would be great.

Hello IKI.

I have always understood the rule to be what you call option A. I've not checked all three of the sources, but double checking my copy of the TOS book I believe my understanding of the rule to be correct; and therefore option A is the correct one.
