Bluescale Deckplans

I'm thinking of working on my deck plans in the Star Wars fan-inspired "Bluescale", or 20 pixels to the metre. I've downloaded several examples, including Masao's Bluescale version of the Capella class from the Starfleet Museum. Aside from Masao's drawings, the Star Wars Bluescale drawings vary so widely from the Star Trek aesthetic that I find myself almost having to pioneer it. Anyone else here done any Bluescale plans and have any tips?

Thanks in advance for anything anyone can help with.

Hello Owen
I'm work with AutoCad so I draw to a scale that I'm comfortable with
then scale it to a sheet. I don't use the Pixel method sorry I can't help you
there. But I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with

I've been using CAD up to this point - an old, obsolete DOS-based 2D CAD system called EasyCAD 2. I'm getting used to doing it pixel-by-pixel, and let me tell you, it's tedious. I hope to have a sample page up soon so you can judge the results.

Well, I've got the basic page up with some very basic samples.

If anyone has done any Bluescale ships, stations or installations, please feel free to submit it. I've got lots of webspace.

While I'm at it, I also updated the page on FASA's Designing in Detail article, linked from the above page. I took the old .jpg's of the article and OCR'ed them to make it somewhat more user-friendly. David Tepool, the author, has made some much-needed observations and suggestions for designing Star Trek gaming deckplans.

Hi Owen
that is some nice work I can understand why you want some more Scales doing shuttle craft and Small vessels in blue scale is not worth the effort. but the equipment legend is fantastic. Looking foreward to seeing more in the near future.

thumbsup to you.

I've done some expansion and a relocation of the page. The new URL is: http://www.coldnorth.com/owen/deckplans/deckplan.htm

Enjoy! The original link will still lead you to the original version.

Man, I just can't picture a Starfleet staircase. Why not a ladder?

It's not a Starfleet staircase - it's a Maquis staircase...

VERY nice work, Owen!

I always thought the Chameleon class was a lot bigger than FASA said! I ran a CODA scenario a few years ago where I used the design, but was scaling it up a bit to give a larger vessel. Your deckplans are about the right scale to what I was visualizing as the new scale!
