Old PLot Path (Plot Seeds)
I found some old files. Old data pay it no mind said the guy in gold, but y'know what. It had a look anyway and I found and old file or two... which I thought I could share with you here. Maybe someone can use some of these ideas (but never shared before as I was hoping to run some of these as PBEM, but I have been sans game for a while now) and a few of them have since been developed. I may tidy up the plots that I had written and post them too.
Now follows a few plot seeds for an old game that never happened aboard the Intrepid class USS Journeyman. A game that would have been run around year 2000, jeez has it beed so long...
USS Journeyman; Plot-path:
Season One.
Set 2371 concurrent with DS9, mid season 5.
The cold war with the Dominion continues and the coming war looms on the horizon. Hostilities between the Federation and Klingons continues unabated as Chancellor Gowrons distrust of the changeling infiltration of the Alpha quadrant causes him to go to new extreme measures to enforce his idea of security.
Meanwhile on the Cardassian border the Maquis is hunted down and destroyed by the newly allied Cardassian and Dominion forces, Bajor prepares to join the Federation as a member world, and the Borg launch another offensive against Earth.
Episode 1.
Reassigned: The transfer of crew to the newly commissioned USS Journeyman goes slightly awry as their transportation aboard a Federation Merchant Marine vessel is interrupted by a distress signal from a Starfleet vessel. They have a mystery to solve and a ship to catch.
Episode 2.
Shakedown: The crew assembled the Journeyman is launched from spacedock, but her shakedown cruise is cut short by an incursion by Klingon forces, using the uneasy peace as an opportunity for battle and hoping to capture the Journeyman as an easy victory.
Episode 3.
Rebels for the Cause: A Maquis ship lies dead in space with a Cardassian ship closing on it to make the kill. But these rebels may not be all they seem to be…
One of the Maquis crew is actually a changeling infiltrator, who will use this opportunity to try and infiltrate the Journeyman’s crew, by simply killing off its old persona and assuming the identity of one of the crew. The commander of the Maquis ship suspects that one of his crew may be a spy, but has no idea of the spies identity… By the time anyone believes him it may already be too late.
Episode 4.
The Threads of Time: Time travel the hard way. The Crew of the Journeyman are propelled back in time to the year 2005, their arrival interrupts a pivotal event in Earth’s history and the crew must try and repair the damage and return to their own time.
Perhaps have the ship arrive smashing a test flight of an unmanned space probe designed as a forerunner for later spaceships. The prototype having failed bankrupts the space race and Humanity doesn’t continue to reach for the stars and Zephram Cochrane doesn’t initiate 1st contact with the Vulcans after the flight of the Phoenix. Worse, the sudden appearance of the spacecraft orbiting Earth sets off a chain of events that would start the atomic holocaust not due for another 30 years… Forever changing Earth’s future history. Get out of that one…
Episode 5.
Sculptor of the Mind: While Starfleet prepares for war, and mines the entrance to the wormhole, a federation penal colony calls for help (possible re-occurrence of the Maquis crew from Ep 3?). An away team finds that the colony has been taken over by Cardassian/Dominion forces, and then has to go head to head with them both in space and on the surface.
Episode 6.
Wolf in the Fold: The spy in Starfleet rears its head, as tension mounts between the Federation and the Dominion, political intrigue reigns as peace talks on a potential Federation world are almost destroyed by the spies actions. Now the crew has to find the spy, stop the talks breaking down and regain the trust of the negotiators
Season Two.
Set 2371/72 concurrent with DS9 season 6.
The Klingons and Federation are friends again, however open war has been declared between the Dominion and the Federation/Klingon alliance… And Starfleet seems to be loosing. DS9 has been abandoned and much of the fleet destroyed or damaged beyond repair. Betazed has fallen to the Dominion and now they are in a tactical position to launch a strike at Earth.
Meanwhile every other major power in the quadrant from the Romulans to the Tholians sign non-aggression treaties with the Dominion keeping out of the war, unable to see how hostile things have become.
The Federation fields two new Starship designs. The Sovereign class launches the first two ships of its class, the USS Sovereign and USS Enterprise. The Prometheus class is field tested as a deep space tactical starship, a test that is interrupted by Romulan intelligence and yet the test is successful and contact is once again made with the lost starship USS Voyager.
Suddenly the Federation finds an unlikely ally in the Romulan Empire, turning the tide of the war.
Episode 1.
The Crusoe Effect: The Journeyman receives a Starfleet distress call from an primitive, isolated planet and must rescue the survivors and preserve the prime directive.
Episode 2.
The Fleet: The Journeyman is separated from the 8th fleet during the battle for DS9, there follows a deadly game of cat and mouse with a Jem’Hadar ship, only the winner will survive. Worse it becomes apparent that one of the Journeyman’s crew may even be a spy giving away their position on a regular basis…
If the changeling infiltrator is still aboard the Journeyman will not be destroyed, at least not until the Changeling tries to get back to the Dominion. Once done the Jem’Hadar will then try to destroy the Journeyman. However they will be unable to loose their Jem’Hadar stalker while the Changeling remains aboard.
Episode 3:
Marooned: Assigned to a runabout serving fleet reconnaissance the crew finds their ship shot out from under them by the Jem’Hadar. Marooned on a remote rocky planet with few resources and hunted by a hostile force. Suddenly they find themselves in possession of a huge technological advancement with no way of defending it. Are they prepared to sacrifice one of their own to stop the enemy from gaining the advantage?
Episode 4.
The Minds Eye: The journeyman takes a negotiator aboard. Unknown to them however he is a very high powered psychic who is about to go down with a case of Rigellian fever. As he begins to hallucinate his unconscious mind reaches out to the crew and draws them into his nightmarish hallucination of being in a 1920’s mad house on Earth…
Cut off from the technology of the 24th century (Aliens will be Human too, at least they appear to be)… And considered inmates of the Asylum how will they manage, will they try and break the ambassador out of his dream state or just sit back and watch the ride…
Episode 5.
Episode 6.
Season Three.
Set 2373: The Dominion War is over, the Cardassian Empire lays in ruins and the Dominion is defeated by the combined forces of the Federation, Klingons and Romulans.
After their daring strike against Earth the Breen withdraw to their own space and begin a period of Isolation not unlike the stance the Romulans took over 100 years before…

An away team will find the lab deserted but will also find an active gateway… Through which they can see events in the past… Similar to the guardian of forever.
Suddenly they are contacted by the Journeyman, as the ship is set upon by a multitude of Dominion, Cardassian and Breen ships. Through the gateway they can see some of the more famous events of the recent war happening in a slightly different way (Someone has gone back and changed the timeline, now the Dominion won the war…).
