    Cool 30 Worst Movie villains

Here was a list from only-movies.com, from a poll they took of the worst (or best) movie villians of all time...

    In Order:

Hannibal Lechter (Anthony Hopkins) - Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hannibal (2000)

Darth Vader (Dave Prowse/voiced by James Earl Jones) - Star Wars (1977)/The Empire Strikes Back (1980)/Return of the Jedi (1983)

    Norman Bates(Anthony Perkins) - Psycho (1960)

The Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman) - Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (1991)

Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) - Misery (1990)

    John Doe (Kevin Spacey) - Se7en (1995)

Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) - Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Cyrus the Virus (John Malkovitch) - Con Air (1997)

Scorpio (Andrew Robinson) - Dirty Harry (1971)

Dracula (Christopher Lee) - Dracula (1958)

    Hans Gruber(Alan Rickman) - Die Hard (1988)

Cruella De Vil (Glenn Close) - 101 Dalmatians (1996)

The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - Terminator (1984)

Joaquin Phoenix (Commodus) - Gladiator (2000)

Jaws (Richard Kiel) - The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) - Goldfinger (1964)

Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) - Goodfellas (1990)

Nurse Mildred Ratched (Louise Fletcher) - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

    Caster Troy (Nicholas Cage) - Face/Off (1997)

Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) - The Shining (1980)

    Keyser Soze (***** ******) - The Usual Suspects (1995)

Tommy Udo (Richard Widmark) - Kiss of Death (1947)

Mr Blonde/Vic Vega (Michael Madsen) - Reservoir Dogs (1992)

The Rev Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum) - Night of the Hunter (1955)

The Child Catcher (Robert Helpmann) - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)

Mini Me (Verne Troyer) - Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)

Max Cady (Robert De Niro) - Cape Fear (1991)

Nosferatu (Max Shreck) - Nosferatu (1922)

Don Logan (Ben Kingsley) - Sexy Beast (2000)

Jaws (the shark) - Jaws (1975)

Me again... OK, so you're going to tell me that The Sherrif of Notingham by Alan Rickman came in at #4, but the sherrif played by the great Basil Rathbone in Errol Flynn's Robin Hood didn't even make it onto the LIST!? And Rickman's Hans Gruber came in at #11!!

Who are the people VOTING for this thing, anyway!?!?!?

(Whoa... gotta lay off the caffine. )

    Hugh

PS... I deleted the name of the actor who plays Keyser Soze in "The Usual Suspects", just for those who have yet to see the film. It has a great twist at the end, and I'd hate to ruin it.

Two minor points, and probably not your errors, but the initial authors.
Joaquin Phoenix (Commodus) - Are the wrong way round, Joaquim is the actor/Commodus the character...

And the word is Kaiser (I am fairly sure the Soze isn't the spelling either but cant prove it)...

Good call on not revealing the twist, it would rather change matters for the un-initiated...

It was quite considerate not to reveal Keyser (I believe this is how it's spelled on the video box) Soze's identity. The Usual Suspects is an excellent film; I wouldn't want it ruined for anyone.

I had a moronic coworker blurt out the twist in The Crying Game hours before I was scheduled to see it. I ended up not going.

Let's hear it for Alan Rickman for making the list twice! He is such a great actor. But, here are a very other people I would add onto the list:

Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) - Blade. He was the true epitomy (sp?) of a Sabbat vampire in this movie.

Ian McKellean (Magneto) - X-Men. Come on. Need I say more?

Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) - The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He barely had to say any words to become one of the most popular Star Wars characters.

Ray Park (Darth Maul) - Star Wars: The Phantom Meanance. Again, like Boba, he barely had to say anything to get people to make him popular.

Dougray Scott (??) - Mission Impossible 2. I forgot the character's name, but he made a great impression on me as a villian.

Anyone else want to add to the list?

    Question

Well, if they're voting for Jaws the Shark...

...what about the Alien, from the trilogy +1 of the same name? Sure as hell scared me when I first saw it.

Not sure I understand the title, which implies these villians as just plain bad, not in alignment that is.

But the list has all my favourites, so I presume that it is a list of the best villains.

So, I will add, if you are going to mention Star Wars villians, then how can you forget Ian McDermond (I think that is how it is spelled) a.k.a Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine?

Or relating to ST, Ricardo Montallban (again probably spelled wrong, don't have my ST Encyclopedia within reach at the moment) as Khan?

Can't get much more EVIL then these two. Even Vader proved he still had some good in him. These two were Evil to the core.

    HMMMMMMMM,

Interesting list, but I can't see how anyone could forget:

Emilio Lizardo (John Lithgow) Buckaroo Banzai 1984

I don't know the character's name, but Lance Henriksen in Hard Target with Jean Claude Van Damme, very cold and stylish, with a gun from hell.

And of course the most vile, evil, most digusting villian to ever ooze from the slime and pass a dark shadow over the Earth,

    Boris Badenov

    Just kidding, cool list though.

The list doesn't need Khan for a Star Trek connection, check out the top of the list, about 10 down.

Scorpio from Dirty Harry, played by Andrew Robinson, yep. Garak.

    I do think that they could easily add;

    Pinhead - Hellraiser.

Velocer Raptors from the original Jurassic Park...

Satan - Exorsist, Stigmata, and South Park...
(I will add End of Days, but only while Gabriel Byrne is possesed, after that it gets REALLY pants)

And how about Sil from Species... What a way to go...

And as for Alan Rickman being on the list twice. hehehehehehehehehehehehe...

To quote Shannon Foracker (PNH): "Oops..."

I looked for "Goldfinger" by scanning first character and didn't think of the added first name.

But some more bad guys from the movies:

Sophie Marceau (Electra King) in "The world is not enough"

Robert Carlyle (Reno) in "The world is not enough"

Jonathan Pryce (Elliot Carver) in "Tomorrow never dies"
