JALU3 up on the following http://forum.trek-rpg.net/showthread...636#post184636 was looking for the Federation Tug. This is close as I have. I generated it off the ruff outline and details that I had and we have used it a couple of times as a salvage vessel. It is mostly automated but can be crewed when it needs a crew.

Notes: Although, I have seen that this towing vessel is an automated vessel, I thought that it should have a minimal crew that can ferry out what is needed to make temporary repairs of a vessel on site or towing the vessel back to the nearest facility that can make repairs. In doing this makes the tug not only a repair vessel but a salvage vessel.

In generating a vessel that can tow at warp speeds I thought that the ship should have a better nacelles that are heavy duty. So I created another Warp Nacelle modification poster here. I see that all ships can tow a vessel but we have never seen ships towing at warp speeds even during the Dominion War.

Though the ship carries a crew of 24 and has a passenger list of 39 they are likely emergency or repair techs that will allow them to make on the spot repairs to the ship. Though a small ship it is capable of pulling a vessel several times larger than itself at its top speed.

The ship is capable transferring power to the ship it is towing through the ships tractor beam and into the ships structural integrity and life support systems aiding the ship in an emergency. The ship is capable of taking on at least one large size vessel or two medium size ships while towing the ship or three smaller size ships.

Expanded Warp Field Nacelles
Power Cost: 1 power/.1 Warp Factor
SU Cost: base cost plus fifty percent
Often when a ship is damaged the vessel will need to be towed into a repair facility. These nacelles are usually found on such vessels as a heavy tugs such as the Atlas class tugs. These nacelles are power hogs resulting in stable fields that allow the ship to be towed at Warp speeds. The extended Warp nacelles reduces the all speeds (standard/sustained/maximum) warp towing speed down two warp factors for their actual speeds. The use of these nacelles a ship sacrifices speed for strength for pulling a large ship.
