    "ultimate MVAM" build/fun build

    The premise for this build was to design the "ultimate MVAM" vessel and essentially doubles the size of the Prometheus-class (size 7 to size 14). She was meant to be a unique vessel and to test the limit of the MVAM platform. It also integrates new technologies such as Quantum induction cores, Low Observation Suite, hybrid QSS/warp system, large scale holographic technology integration including Command (AI avatar), Medical, Security and Engineering program's and of coarse Multi Vector Assault Mode. Many Tactical advance's were also integrated, particularly reverse engineered Borg and Breen technologies.

    This is a fun/fanboy build.


    The vessel consists of a saucer section with mirrored upper (dorsal) and lower (ventral) engineering/nacelle hulls. This vessel has a 4 nacelles set up. (the pic is for reference only, imagine the dorsal engineering/nacelle mirrored ventrally. The MVAM manifests as the upper and lower engineering/nacelle hulls separating, hence you will have those two sub-vessels and the saucer sub-vessel.

    The Chimera employs a remarkable third generation two-layer system to avoid detection.     I envision this vessel would be SF's (25th century) version of Star Gates Destiny, as in a ship capable of undertaking intergalactic journeys/exploration. I tried to include as many "self repair" type systems to afford this vessel the ability to operate for extended periods alone and with out support. The vessel carry's a large amount of support/auxiliary craft, including shuttles, Heavy Fighters and a dedicated Captain's yacht.

    Wakizashi refit (Fast Attack Ship [FAS], as per Space Dock the Fast Attack Ship is a Threat Species term (adopted for this application as SF does not have a classification for this type of vessel, now these vessels are classified as Heavy Attack Fighter) for a vessel that is little more then a larger, more powerful Fighter.) A modified Federation Attack Fighter spaceframe, doubling all dimensions, was utilized for the Wakizashi refit. In addition to it's general use as a heavy fighter, the Wakizashi refit also acts as a small troop carrier (drop ship). It has a large access port on it's ventral side for on-loading and off-loading Marines.

    Standard crew compliment is 4. The Wakizashi-class is a spartan vessel, and designed for combat purposes primarily, that being said the Wakizashi (refit) is outfitted with enough support systems to make life on board somewhat comfortable.

    This is the refit version of the Wakizashi-class Fast Attack Fighter and utilizes the larger space-frame. These vessels are designed to operate as "sector" defense (20 ly operational range). Because of technology advances the Refit addresses the Wakizashi's short-falling's (the absence of a proper med bay with EMH) and updates the Wakizashi's technology.
    Despite their size the Wakizashi-class Refit carry's significant firepower and is capable of causing catastrophic damage on even Capitol sized vessels. Standard deployment is the "wing" which consists of 5 Fast Attack Ships. If assigned to a scouting mission, most often only a single Wakizashi is deployed. These vessels are exceptionally maneuverable at impulse speeds, thanks in part to the Impulse Thruster's and in combat situations regularly exceed .6c, despite time dilation problems. Also because of the crafts Atmo capability Wakizashi pilots will often dive in and out of a planets atmosphere to gain a tactical advantage, or when retreating.
    Much of what was learnt during the Defiant project was implemented into the Wakizashi-class. Many of the systems tested in the Defiant are now standard on the Wakizashi.

    As of 2400ad all Perimeter Defense vessel's are fitted with Federation developed stealth technology, with the LOS MkII being fitted to all of these vessels. Rather then fit a "standard" cloaking device Federation R&D decided to develop their own version of stealth technology. The LOS is smaller, uses less energy and achieves the equivalent results as the Defiant's Cloaking device.

    Special note, Ramming Hull. Star Fleet as a general rule, does not encourage or condone suicide attack's (SF officers are precious resources not to be squandered on suicide attacks), but in special circumstances the Wakizashi-class is out fitted for Ramming procedures. SOP is to set the autopilot to ram and all personnel beam away to a safe harbor.

    I question whether or not the description of "interceptor" is appropriate. In modern usage, an interceptor is a fighter designed to counter other fighters. I would tend to call this more of a gunboat. The image is likewise not appropriate for this ship, being an image of a small fighter craft. No troop-carrying ship would have such a large canopy. Also, it took me 3 rereads before I could figure out what B'up meant. Is it really that hard to type out the word backup?

    Point taken Owen, and I agree. As far as B'up being short hand for back up, I have always done that, just habit more then anything else, at least now that every one knows about it I can continue using B'up...LoL

    The pic is the only one I can find that looks great and is somewhat like how I envision the ship to look like. I will search for another.

    I have just spent an hour trolling through ship pics and can't find a suitable image, the problem is the Federation doesn't make a lot smallish type assault vessels. The Yorkshire troop transport (which is actually a gunboat) IMHO looks like crap and the Marquis-raider (Ju'day class) looks very 2360's (I do like the look of the Ju'day). The Peregrine-class Attack Fighter is very cool looking and would be my pick but again looks very 2360's. I really like the Dominion Attack Vessel, though using it as a SF vessel is just wrong....LoL
    I was thinking of using either a Steamrunner or Saber class as the image (obviously noting that the Wakizashi refit spaceframe is built to a smaller scale the either of these vessels)


    Does any one have any idea's?
    Or have 3-D imaging ability that could help me out with making up an appropriate image (pm me and we could discuss what I envision what the ship should look like). I feel this ship should look like a saucer with nacelles partially embedded port and starboard with no engineering hull. (ie Steamrunner-esque or Saber-esque)

    I found this and I like the look of this vessel, though it has a lot of Dominion and Klingon influences which muddies the water a bit.



    The other ship that comes to mind is the reduced size Defiant-class space-frame, though it feels a little sacrilegious to use that design.

    The Captain's Yacht is a lavish transport vessel, used for ferrying diplomats or other high-position figures about. The Chimera Yacht is based on an enlarged Runabout space-frame (takes a modified Runabout and triples all dimensions)
    The yacht is equipped with a series of Luxury stateroom's used for all high-profile guests. Recreation and Medical facilities are extensive (for a small craft). It is the only completely unarmed craft on board, giving it a much more peaceful feeling to it. Its sole defense is its very powerful shield system and Polarizing Reactive Hull Armour. This vessel is set up to ferry up to 20 passengers at a time.

    So as the Yacht can transport personnel in a timely manner they are equipped with an exceedingly powerful warp system, and are capable of sustaining warp 9.99 for extended periods of time.

    Holo-personnel feature heavily on the Yacht, being equipped with all available programs (EMH, EEH, Sec-personnel, Avatar, service-personnel, holo-butler)
