    StarGate Aurora-class Battleship

The Aurora-class battleship was a series of Lantean battleships used during their war with the Wraith. The Atlantis expedition first encountered this class of ships in the form of the Aurora, and only four have been encountered since the fall of the Lantean's, excluding those built by the Asuran's. The Lantean name for this class of ship has never been revealed. However, Replicator Keller called them Aurora-class as well though she may have been using this name as it was the one the Organic Asuran copies of the team knew. Built by the Lantean's during their war with the Wraith, the Aurora-class is considered to be among the most advanced class of warships ever created, with only the Asgard-modified Daedalus-class seen to rival the power of at least older variants. It is unknown how an Ori warship or the Asgard O'Neill-class ship would fare against one of these vessels, but at peak capacity just one of them is more than a match for an entire fleet of Wraith Hive ships or Goa'uld Ha'tak's.
There are at least 3 variations of the Aurora-class design:
The Aurora variant is the largest seen, but little is known about it's defensive capabilities. (detailed in this build)
The Orion variant was much smaller than the Aurora. It did not have a Control chair on the bridge.
The Traveler's Aurora-class was almost identical to the Orion in exterior appearance, but the bridge was larger and had a Control chair in the center.

This build is the last version of the Aurora-class launched just before the fall of the Lantean's to the Wraith, there have been examples of these vessels being found still operational (or quiescent or in Mothballs).

*Lantean shield technology is extremely advanced, only the Asgard rival them (but not exceed them) in regard to shield technology. Lantean science developed Metaphasic shielding millions of years ago, as seen on Destiny. The Lantean shield has proven one of the few shield types that can successfully resist Drone penetration.

Anti-intruder system, mini drone swarm. The latest and one of the most effective anti intruder system developed by the Lantean's just before the fall. Only a few Aurora-class vessels were equipped with this system.
Mini-drones operate on the same basic principle as larger drones do. Mini-Drones are enveloped in a powerful energy shield which allows them to burrow through virtually anything, then perforate the target to destroy it (they have no capacity to detonate and rely on the trauma created by the Mini-Drone burrowing through the targets body's, and like their larger cousins are programmed to specifically target vital organs to maximize target damage). Mini-Drone are programmed to automatically deactivate if there is any chance of perforating the ship's hull or systems. They are controlled through the use of a neural interface connected to a hand scanner &/or through the Control Chair, both of which require the use of an additional key in the form of a pendant in order to operate it (usually only the Captain, First Officer and Chief of Security will have this special 'key'). Multiple drones will swarm any potential targets, then move on. This version of the technology has the ability to detect the Ancient Technology Activation gene, and will register any who have it as friendly. Though mini-drones behave in much the same manner as regular drones, they have unique behaviors due to their anti-personnel design. Mini-Drones are designed for defense rather than offense, and are specifically designed to safeguard Lantean ships and facilities from Wraith troops.

now I took a few liberties, the Beam Weapons most notably, from what I can tell Aurora-class relied on Drone Weapons only, which for me is not a very sound practice, as invariably in a protracted battle you will eventually run out of munitions. I did try to adopt the Drone Weapons to Space Dock as best I could. I also added a Ring Transporter, despite them being redundant once the Lantean's went to Pegasus (as they developed Beam Transporters).

You will note there are no tractor beams, the Star Gate universe doesn't develop them. The rest of the build seems to fit reasonably well.

I also modified the hull set up, StarGate wiki seems to allude to the fact that the hull of the Aurora is somewhat weak, and the ship relies on their powerful shields for defense. I did not reflect this, and went further by adding hull armour. Also there wasn't any mention of cloaking technology for the Aurora, but every Puddle Jumper has a cloak, so for me it is logical that the Ancients would fit their front-line battleship with that tactical advantage as well.

Also the primary power core was never defined, though there was mention of the Aurora-class fitted with ZPM's , the thing is Ancient power sources/ZPM's and Ship Power cores do not fit with SpaceDock very well, especially considering the ships primary power core is basically like a ZPM and self sustaining and have been seen to operate for thousands of years (some time upward of 10,000 years), suggesting their fuel source seems to be self perpetuating, or is capable of lasting for extended periods of time with out the need to refuel.

    Notes on Drone Weapons
A hybrid energy/projectile weapon, drones are capable of penetrating most shields and armor with ease. A single drone can destroy most fighters and cause severe damage to smaller capital ships, while hundreds or thousands can obliterate dozens of vessels with little effort. A drone is a vaguely squid-shaped weapon about three feet long. It has a rounded yellow head with small spikes that jut out to the rear of the weapon. Six tails extend from the rear of the weapon, which taper into a point while in flight. A drone is an extremely powerful guided weapon, comparable to a highly sophisticated missile. Using an internal sensor for guidance a drone can penetrate or even bypass all but the most powerful shields and burrow through thick armor with ease while avoiding attempts to shoot them down and avoiding allied targets. Drones are programmed to seek enemy targets power sources, engines, fuel storage areas or computers before detonating, so as to maximize damage to the target. Drones are extremely maneuverable in flight and precise. For small targets a single Drone is usually enough, though for hardened targets Drones are often deployed in swarms. When active, a drone emits an energy field capable of burning through nearly all forms of conventional matter, as well as allowing it to punch through energy shielding with ease. This not only renders a drone capable of causing severe damage in a single strike, but allows it to make multiple attack runs on a single target before running out of energy &/or exploding.

Regarding the drone storage if you look at their size compared to a Photon Torpedo you can get six or more into the same space. This was pointed out to me several times ever sense I made my version of the Atlantis City ship Spacedock version. I was wondering what your thoughts were.

The size of the unit isn't necessarily reflective of the site of the equipment needed to properly and safely store and maintain them, though.

I assume that sense they are ancient technology it is self maintaining and requires less space. Well that is the way we have handled it in our group giving the same space for the photon torpedoes can handle six times the "squid missiles" thus giving the ship plenty of fire power as it is the only weapon available to the city ship of Atlantis.

    I extrapolated it on size
    Drones are
"A drone is a vaguely squid-shaped weapon about three feet long." (so around 1m long)
    http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Drone_weapon

as per Space Dock page 144, photon torpedo size is 2.1m x.76m x.45m

so I estimated that Drones were around 1/2 the size of a torpedo, and thus doubled the amount of Drones one could store (photons store at a rate of 5/.5), so to store 10,000 photon torpedoes would cost 1000su.

I also reduced the power cost for the drone launching (cost for the system is the same, I reduced the /missile launched power cost from 5 to 2) at the normal cost it would cost 700/launcher to fire a full spread (200 for the launcher 500 for 100 Drones) and I though if you used both launchers that's 1400 power alone and wasn't just realistic.

I based the launcher on a high yield model, Drones for me are high yield weapons and so I deemed it necessary to build them with high yield launchers.Range I used a slight reduction to the standard photon torpedo, and damage again standard type II photon torpedo. you may also note I have tweaked the launchers slightly, now are what is shown on the vessel (you can clearly see 8 launch tubes for the drones)

Omega what are your thought's on ZPM's, as in SU size and power generation?

Puddle Jumpers, are small spacecraft created by the Ancients. Puddle Jumpers feature retractable thrusters that allow them to travel through a Stargate, as well as powerful Drone weapons for self-defense and a cloaking device to avoid detection. They are operated via neural interface, and so the Ancient Technology Activation gene is required to activate and pilot the ship. The Lantean's refer to 'Puddle Jumpers' as GateShips. The design of a Puddle Jumper is a small, roughly cylindrical shape with an angled front and rear, allowing it to slide perfectly through open Stargates. The front section contains the cockpit of the vessel with all control functions, four seats for passengers, and a large view port at the front of the ship. The aft section contains a passenger and storage area with a hatch in the back to access the ship. The Gateship is specifically designed to fit through a StarGate, and all come with a DHD.

OPTIONAL (this mod was developed by the Atlantis expedition and if used renders the Cloak inoperable for as long as the vessels shields are active)
    Shields (regenerative) <144>
    Protection 800/1200
    Threshold 450
    Regeneration 20/rnd

    B'up shields (4) <4>

A Puddle Jumper has no true defensive shields at all, as they are designed to be an exploration and trading ship. Its only defense consists of an advanced cloaking generator capable of masking the ship to both the naked eye and sensors, much like those on Goa'uld Tel'taks and Al'kesh, although far smaller and more powerful. The Jumper's cloak cannot be penetrated by Wraith, Tau'ri, GoaŽuld or Asgard sensors, apart from the sensors of the ZPM powered hive ship. The cloak conceals the full interior of the vessel and its occupants even if the hatch is open. The Jumper's cloak is not limited to the size of the craft, as it can be extended around other objects.
However, through modifications the cloaking generator can be altered to act as a shield, capable of withstanding the pressure of the ocean and even one Atlantis Drone without falling, although this drains the Jumper's power rapidly.
The cloaking generator can only project either the cloak or the shield, as both are generated from the same device. The Ancients also appear to have used it for this, given Jumper-compatible docking rings on their Mobile drilling platform and an underwater Jumper bay on Atlantis.
Dr. Rodney McKay was also able to modify the Jumper's cloak to emit an Anti-Replicator field that would destroy all Asurans in range (9 levels of a City-Ship). Furthermore, Michael Kenmore was able to interface Wraith technology with a stolen Jumper to emit a Stun bubble around the ship.

    **temporal gate ship

one example of a temporal Gate Ship was built, utilizing a temporal rift generator allowing the vessel to traverse through time.
the following systems were added to this unique vessel

Temporal power core (20su) [generates 10pwr/rnd]

    Temporal rift Generator (10su)

    Chronometric sensors class 10 (10 str) gamma gain +3 18ly range (49su)

Temporal shield generator (8su) (this vessel was equipped with both a cloak and a shield generator)

    Su used 943

I always kind of hated how those ships just looked like minivans.

yeah mate, I agree, though there is little one can do within the constraint of being able to fit through the Gate (so you are basically regulated to a cylinder type vessel). That being said many 'shuttles' look like a rectangular box that fly's...

Well, the shuttles were constrained by having to build them in a couple weeks would doing a whole lot of custom carpentry. That said, I think they managed to feel a little different than a vehicle—at least until the SmartCar came along : P

As for the gate-ships, I would've hoped for something a little less... I don't know, regular-person-sitting-around-ish? Maybe sarcophagi linked together somehow which transmit through the gate like those teleport-rings? Or a big blob that you walked into which flowed though the gates?

for me the Wraith Dart looks far more interesting, and can fly through the Stargate, and I like the idea of how they dealt with passengers, beamed them up and held them in a pattern buffer till the journey was complete. I also find the Needle Threader interesting (A Needle Threader is a specialized Death Glider constructed by the Goa'uld that can travel through the Stargate in a maneuver called "Threading the Needle.")

One would think with the CGI and computer modelling available today space ships would look a whole lot cooler then many we are subjected too....LoL

The one thing that always puzzled me with the Lantean's was why they never just built a 'bigger' stargate and seed them around the galaxy, in addition to the planetary ones, build a heap of Super Gates like the Ori (they only built a couple) did and have almost instantaneous travel all around a galaxy.... They had plenty of power to do so (ZPM's and the ability to construct them at will), so just have a ZPM powered Super Gate deposited at most habitable solar system and you have the foundation of a Class 3 civilization.

    Maybe they just preferred walking.

wouldn't help with the Star Gates that they deposited in orbit around many planets in the Pegasus galaxy, unless one is capable of surviving hard vacuum...LoL Not all of us are like the Undine (species 8472) and can go EVA without a space suit....

These guys can create instantaneous doorways between places thousands of light-years apart and they can't solve a simple problem like their skin maintaining the pressure of the inside of their bodies in a vacuum?

true but I would be more worried about the near absolute zero temperature of space, rather then the lack of pressure.
