    Exclamation Your Help Needed!

I did an exhaustive test of the new boards prior to opening them up. I made sure mail was working, time/date stamps, posting, moving, editing, and deleting of threads and individual messages.

However, if I've overlooked something, please tell me immediately!

Should anything get really screwed up I have the old boards to restore from current as of Sunday afternoon.

I'm not sure if this is something you can take care of or not, but I noticed the site doesn't tell me which threads are new since the last time I was here. Another thing I'm not sure if you can fix, I had to reenter my username and password. I suppose both are very minor problems.

Games. The Final Product. These are the books of the Star Trek RPG. Their five year license. To explore strange new roles. To breathe new life into get togethers. To boldly play what no fan has played before!

    Question

    That's odd.
It's the exact opposite with me.
The boards usually DON'T tell me which threads are new. But they do now.
I was actually surprised to see the icons again.

    Strange that.

Yep. The move of the boards to a new server seems to have rendered our old cookies useless. (It is a cookie that tells it how to mark new messages.) Similarly, your username and password are stored via cookie.
So, once you have visited, all will work fine on your next visit.

Don, do you know why it marks all threads as "old" when you have no cookie? I'm asking because one of the other UBBs I visit has started failing to recognize me when I visit, and when talking with some people they figured that it couldn't possably default to that setting (and that instead I must be "visiting" the board twice or something), but apparently it does.

It's marking new threads for me now, but it didn't store my UN and PW. Maybe I accidentally turned that off when I meant to turn it on. No big deal.

Yup, that's all cookie related. Clearing your cookies will sometimes resolve these problems (or when moving to a temporary site).

Unfortunately, unless you clean out your cookies now, after the DNS change takes place and these boards are once again at "www.trekrpg.net" your problems will return (because the old cookie is still on your hard drive).

    Question

Nothing? Am I really that good to have it work perfectly first try?

I guess this is a sign that I've moved the site one too many times.

Bump this puppy, as some folks haven't seen it (and should).
