    Small Battlestar Galactica

For years there have been disagreements of the size of the Battlestar Galactica I made a version using the stats from the RPGgammer.com pages for the small battlestar Galactica. It makes a nice little ship that can be utilized in other adventures or as a small battlestar. It can be used as a smaller Battlestar in the fleet. This ship is also use able against Star Trek Universe ships or such as well. I know I left little wiggle room in it to add in something in reduce the mega pulsars or Solonite anti-ship missile launchers and reducing the Ablative armor or harden armor to make a little room for changes in the ship is the best as those were the last items I added in generation of this ship. However, for use with other ships use the shields drop the extra armor and ablative armor but if it is a battlestar Galactica story drop the shields completely and use just the extra armor and ablative armor. This is how I generated the ship for use.

The ship is not as powerful as a Galaxy class and The Next Generation ships nevertheless can easily take on most other ships easy enough.

This was just one of those for fun projects. They are totally useable in the Star Trek, Star Wars and Babylon 5 Universes as well as the Battlestar Galactica Universe. As you can see that the Cylon base ship runs a little heavy on SU’s.

    Enjoy.

I have to say I was disappointed in the BattleStar revisited technology, projectile weapons, no shields, nukes. One would think if their society had developed FTL then other technologies would have been developed as well.

they don't have FTL technology, though they have jump drive technology, just like Traveller, but with different constraints.

the end result is the same though, whether you use warp, hyperdrives, jump drives or any other FTL drive. In fact they called it a FTL Jump....

    http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Pr...magined_Series

even Traveller refers to FTL in regards to their Jump Drive

As this was from the Original Series Battlestar Galactica I gave it a Hyperdrive in stead of a warp systems where is gave the ship light-speed as it was seen in the pilot movie (Saga of a star world) and the two part episodes of Living Legend. The in plausible sub-light travel would take years between star systems even at .9 of light speed.

As for the resurrected series I thought that had some really good stories in it and did a fairly good job of remaking a classic favorite series. I have both on DVD. I did like the guns on the Galactica in the resurrected series. I know from personal experience of being on a destroyer during gunnery practice when the five inch gun on deck fired no matter where you were in the ship you knew that it cleared it's throat.

yeah I have both series on DVD as well mate, and I wasn't being critical of your build, just saying I found it strange that the modern series went the way they did with some of the technology, as the original had laser technology and one would think the modern version would follow suit. Like you I enjoyed many of the stories of the modern Battle star and the way they explained everything in the end (though the whole Star Buck thread was a little strange)

    http://www.tecr.com/galactica/weapons/weapons.htm

From what I can make out the modern series FTL jump drive would work like a coaxial drive, with a 5 LY maximum jump.

I got the feel that they wanted to make the Battlestar Technology equal to or just a little more advanced than what we have today, but stalled with the Fear of the Cylons using it against us in another war. Watching some of it really gives one the feel of being on a real ship while others scenes lost it completely. The lack of discipline in some of the characters would not be tolerated on modern warships today. I mean in both series.

this could be said about many different sci-fi series Trek included, I suppose what makes good TV doesn't necessarily reflect reality...
