With the news on the big picture here is a place to go to see the the front in this war right now were firefighters, cops and Parmedics and other EMS workers are doing their job.
They are the best in the world at what they do, to us in the volunteers FDNY has a reputation as an elite near to godlike status and to have seen so many die and hurt reminds us all that we too are so vulnerable.
{As if God wished to sharpen this point, here in my home county a long serving firefighter and chief (in another company) has passed away after a long illness, this was just annouced on my monitor).

They are without doubt heroes.
We can only hope that these people get their due. In my opinion these people, although they do not seek it, deserve the press usually reserved for the likes of Stacy Koon.
As a Philly cop, I have nothing but total praise for my colleaques in New York city.Yesterday, Commissioner Timoney ordered the wearing of black crepe on our badges to be worn for 30 days in honor of New York's finest who gave their all in performance of their duty.
