I dont't know if it is being afraid or just concerned to fly. Perhaps the long wait has something to do with it.

Flying will never be quite the same, but I think flying is safer now than it has ever been before.

In three weeks I fly to Tahoe on business and have no qualms.

    Don't let them win!

Everything seems to be returning to normal, despite the new security procedures and the long, long line.

Besides, your information is vague. You say you got this from a poll, but what was the result? Is it 100% afraid to fly, or a majority of those who participated in the poll?

    Red face

The skies over Pearson International in Toronto are filled with aircraft as I type making up for the backlog. We took in a number of diverted US domestic flights at the request of the FAAs decision on Tuesday. It makes me proud to be a Canadian and ally of US to help our friends out.

Unfortunately in Hamilton Ontario (our version of Pittsburgh) a temple was burned by arsonists in a suspected hate crime attack. The foolish idiots who committed that act were totally ignorant...it was of the Hindu faith (no where close to Muslim/Islam) but regardless of whatever faith these actions must not be tolerated either! We must not let the actions of a psychotic few tranlate into a blank check to go after our own communities or cultures we suspect or might think they are suspect to harm us.

They just had a very interesting article on 60 Minutes tonight on airport security.

It was very troubling. Security at most major airports has been very lax for sometime.
What makes matters worse is that the airports and the FAA have been aware of this!

    FROM CANADIAN PRESS WIRE
"Updated: Mon, Sep 17 6:39 PM EDT
OTTAWA (CP) - A Virgin Airlines 747 jet en route to New York from London with 314 passengers and crew on board was diverted to Goose Bay, Nfld., because of a bomb threat Monday. Two Canadian Forces CF-18 fighters took off to escort the jumbo jet in.
The plane landed safely and the RCMP are investigating the threat. "

Hey my cousin works for Virgin at Pearson International in Toronto and he looks after the 747 that does the London-Toronto and return route daily. Luckily he went back home to see his family and friends England before
the infamy of the past Tuesday. It seemed fortunate that circumstances happened that way as no doubt his loved ones would be worried about him considering the industry he's in and the FAAs fear that any flight in North America lost week (and perhaps still) posed a threat. He's been a Canadian citizen for a year now and his Canadian family myself included miss him and I know for a fact that his fellow employees at Pearson miss him considering his anti-terrorist training and all. It could have been my cousin on that plane! Whoever made that bomb threat should pray they never run into this well-mannered polite Canadian....
On another note a couple I know was vacationing in Florida last week and was at Disneyland sure enough when the decision was made to close it. Their vacation was ruined last week because of this so it truly becomes a small world after all. It could have been worse though so many of us should count our blessings just ask the families of the victims in NYC, Washington or Pennsylvania. The inconviences or even traumas we have suffered obviously pale in comprehesion to what they are experiencing. I can't wait to see the global coalition put terror in the eyes of those who practice it.

    Thumbs up

My cuz came back tonight safe n sound but a week earlier than expected. The security checkpoints even look in your shoes just in case its that tight. Unfortunately the aviation industry is so bad right now as a result of last Tuesdays attack Branson has decided to cut his Virgin routes going to North America thus my cousin will be out of employment soon. My cousin is trying to build a life here and the plans of these crazy Islamic extremist bastards are destroying life in the new world as we know it. Osama bin Laden rot in hell cuase you are WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE. Preferably dead though and damn be those who worship him as a matyr for whatever "cause".
THE BOMB should be such an angel of mercy...

I'm sorry for your cousin's job situation, but at least your cousin is alive to look for employment the next day.

The same goes for the couple that was vacationing in Florida, if it was a huge inconvenience for them. (Personally, they should have vacationed here in Hawaii.)

We both can't say for the NY civilians, firefighters, and police officers who lost their lives on Tuesday. Kudos for the DC's military, government, and civilian workers.

    No offense.
