Task Force 72, Something Different that Feels Familiar
“The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same.”
It seems that history has began to repeat itself once more in the Alpha Quadrant. The quadrant has once more become the foothill for conflict; this time we have no idea how serious it really is.
The Breen Confederacy and the Cardassian Union battle it out, fighting over the last remnants of Dominion influence. The Federation has found a new ally in the form of the Talarian Republic, formerly an Empire. The Tzenkethi Coalition has began to make moves not seen since the Federation-Tzenkethi War. A leader has been removed and a new power has taken root to return the Coalition by to it purest form.
Meanwhile in the Inconnu Expanse, the mysterious Erganites, once a dominant force in the Expanse, have been nearly decimated by the Breen. Those who are left have banded together as Ravagers, determined to take back what is theirs regardless of who stands in their way.
With the destruction of Deep Space 7 by Ravager forces in the Inconnu Expanse late last year and confirmed reports of socio-political factions positioning themselves as heir-apparent to the sitting Autarch of the Tzenkethi Coalition, the Federation Council escalated Starfleet's presence along the Federation-Tzenkethi-Breen Border, while conso
lidating Federation assets in the region.
Enter Task Force 72, assigned by Bravo Fleet to observe, and if necessary, protect the Federation from certain destruction.
The USS Ark Royal, an aging yet sturdy Ambassador-class ship of the line, was pressed back into service after spending the last ten years in mothballs. Outfitted with the latest advancements in Command and Control technology, Captain Charles F. McFadden and the crew of the U.S.S. Ark Royal are poised to confront the heart of current galactic intrigue that will define the balance of power in the region for years to come.
The USS Traveller has left the bounds of the Milky Way, but not without cost. A cell of fundamentalists, who believed the Federation’s expansion into their societies is a slow imperialist assimilation, sought to save the races of the Messier 4 cluster the same fate. After attempting to blow up the ship, they then tried to sabotage the launch. Only the quick actions of the crew, and the death of one of their own, saw them to victory. Now the crew take a well earned rest on the two week cruise from the darkness of intergalactic space, to the edge of Messier 4. However, bad luck comes in threes, and storm clouds brew silent and dark in space.
Deep Space 12, a former Cardassian Nor station on the corners of both the Breen Confederacy and the Cardassian Union, has a front row seat to the spectacle. The station is not without its own dangers, especially with those trying to take advantage of the situation!
