Back when I had a website, I maintained a list of all canon Bajoran names, sorted into family names, given names, and unsure.
I could email you the HTML page. It's small.
I called it the Big Book of Bajoran names.
I also have/had the Bitty Book of Betazoid names, and a start on Klingon names IIRC.
I find that if you just mix and match from canon, you get a nice variety. Such as my never-played sim character, Shakaar Laan, who shares a family name with the First Minister of Bajor and the given name of a famous Bajoran poet. To reverse this (and have a less recognizable family name) you'd get Akorem Edon.

Found out that I have the Klingon names and Ferengi names books (from my webpage).
IIRC, I was working on a joint Vulcan/Romulan book.

As for a female Bajoran security officer?
    How about:

    Anjohl Meru
    Basso Jaxa
    Bareil Laren
    Day Adami
    Krim Fala
    Ossan Korena
    Porta Nerys
    Trentin Ziyal
    Winn Sul

All combinations of canon female Bajoran given names with canon Bajoran family names.

For "punny" names, go to the Car Talk web site (for those who listen to NPR, you know what I refer to). They have a huge list of punny names, such as Luke Bizzie and Amanda Reckonwyth. I made a list of NPC's just from this list.

I've been using a handy resource I picked up about a year ago off the net. Here's the addy:
    http://www.iki.fi/spyorre/ebon/index.htm

It's been very handy for coming up with PC and NPC names, as well as Planet and Alien names.

I generally make up alien names that somewhat echo my feelings about the species.

Tellarites are Earthy, and porcine, and would tend to have gruntish names, like Unth or Grunnith.

Kzin (Tzenkethi) have feline-sounding names, like Rorahl or Hissmawarrl or Yarawalall.

Klingons are mono-to-bisylabbic, often with K, and/or with glottal stops. Borak, K'orbox, Kraw. I named my Klingon Khlu'less (because his player was, and because it fit the K-formula.)

Vulcans are bisyllabic, and generally limited to 5-6 letters for males, often starting with S: Sobek, Starn, Tolik, Shivok, and 6 letters for Females, generally starting with T': T'Pal, T'Lora.
