History-
Developed to explore more distant galaxies, and to transport mostly
civilian-esque "observers" farther out from the known galaxies, the
Edgepiercer-Class was named from a series of Sci-Fi Novels and theories
by Drs. Langdon and Vanderburg about going to the edge of the universe
and probing it, study it, and to see of there's anything beyond.
Ships of this class were produced from Morena, 40 Eridani A, Argelius
and Ronstadt shipyards at a combined rate of 10 per year and sent out, alone,
to conduct passing sweeps of numerous Galaxies, some vastly large like IC 1102,
and many being dwarf galaxies, and due to exploratory needs, and a number
of bizarre multidimensional/psionic incidents, few made it to the edge of
the universe, but three; - USS Greenwood, USS Achernar, and USS Sarek,
eventually made it in 3313 and 3327, recording intense energy emissions,
darkmatter, energy, subflux phasics, and a bizarre echo/mirror effect,
little could be detected beyond which, although some temporal and exouniversal
scientists speculated that this was indication of the Universal energy barrier,
as well as numerous mechanics and frameworks between universes, plus
some slight peeking into another universe, basically many different thigns
with some data and heavy experimentation, but nothing concrete.
The Class was reassigned to surveying some more distatn galaxies
for colonization in 3397-3407, and finally as colony ships themselves in
3457, finally disappearing from service in 3472-3482.
