Galaxy-class Saucer and Stardrive as separate ships
I was wondering what the saucer and stardrive sections of the Galaxy class would look like as independent starships all their own. Using a unified version of the Galaxy class as a road map I proceeded by looking at the earlier version I had made up of the separated version seeing that they were each not what they should be. In designing them I had build ships that were half of what they were hole. I looked about the site however I could not find that I had posted them. I might post them later.
This version I generated as a complete independent starship all their own and to make the saucer section work, I made some changes that I had looked at earlier on to the power production on the saucer to make it feasible as a starship, a sub light speed starship but a starship all its own.
They make nice looking ships well with in the Spacedock rules except when connected. When the saucer is attached the saucer and stardrive are connected they kick the SU’s over, five hundred structural units over the top of the size eight scale to be a fact.
The saucer and stardrive sections together make a size 8 starship but separate they are each size seven due to their size. While connected the two shielding systems act as one creating a shield bubble only costing as if there is one shielding system.
The saucer running as here with power only to essential systems and shields at sixteen percent giving the ship 200 protection (threshold 67) and one full powered phaser shot or two at half power. This is not much of a combat capability this is all the ship has less with out the second saucer impulse engine making the ship even more vulnerable to attack.
There is hundreds of things I could cover about the revised version of the Galaxy class but it would take forever to write up. This will be a long post, so I am going post it in three sections this being the first. Let me know what you think.
