History:
The Odin Nova-Class was initially a fairly generic idea for a long-range exploratory
light cruiser, making use of the best available isolinear computer core, as well as
some of the faster available warp engines, and after the design was seven years on hold,
the first contact with the Borg in 2365 accelerated development of the design, and
some additions of 4Xe Technology and changes to the spaceframe, including partially
embedded nacelles, caused Project X-ES1 to become a significantly more tactical, but still
exploratory and transport oriented starship.
The Project was named Odin Nova after the two head Engineers, 27-year old Odalis Sternbach
and 24-year old Charles Sturroch, doodled with various designs, including ideas for other
classes then under development, and combined the names for the planned Nova-Class Heavy Explorer
and Odin-Class Light Cruiser, and the Prototype U.S.S Odin Nova, NX-74800, was launched
from Utopia Planitia on March 31st, 2371, with production commencing at a rate of 6 per year.
