Not Just Another Cargo Ship

Every now and then I find a ship that I generate up from what little information that there is on the ship. In Star Trek Fleet Commander game there is a Freighter the ECS Fortunate. I have generated this from bits of knowledge here and there to make the following freighter.

In generating this freighter, I made the cargo containers a separate item that can attach to the freighter aka tug to haul around. I like the idea that the freighter can stop drop a container and then continue to the next stop to deliver another and come back to collect the container whether it has been emptied and refilled for the next delivery location on the route.

It is a single nacelle vessel but can be generated into a twin or triple nacelle version of freighters. The Fortunate is a simple freighter and cargo carrier in the game it is one of the first that is earned in the game I believe. In the game I have several that I never even get to use.

If you don’t want to do the separate parts method it is simply add the cargo amount, transporters, and weight to the powered section as well as the SU’s and you have the combined version of the freighter. The adjustment of the nacelles is easy from a single nacelle vessel to twin or triple I just allowed ten SU’s up the table to make the vessel different. Een if you want a freighter that is slightly faster than the one that is there this adjustment works for that as well. A second container add to the freighter can be added by increasing the length 48.75 meters along with the cargo amount.

Plus int this game the freighter is also used a mining vessel collecting materials from asteroids and such. The mining rules that I generated work with this freighter.

Though this ship is JJ Abrams universe ship it still works well in the original series era as it can haul cargo that usually is never seen. I used the freighter in a version of our session in the next generation era that was a TNG era vessel with three cargo containers of highly volatile materials that was caught in an unusual space storm and the ship had been crippled. The Federation crew had to plan and make a rescue operation to save the eighteen crew and passengers before it exploded. Just for the record they didn’t make it the ship exploded with the Federation ship caught in the edge of the blast zone. This was a interdiction adventure as they were just starting with a new crew, personally I thought that they were going to pull it off but didn’t.
