Someone suggested this to me, and I thought that it needed to be generated up. I don’t know if anyone has done so. So here is my version of the system. I think that it makes a great addition to the ships systems.
In the first season of Star Trek: Picard the small freighter had several interesting holograms that were a part of the ships systems that aided the crew in many ways. I thought that this was one of the most interesting uses of holograms to date in the Star Trek Universe.
Starship Holograms
SU’s used: size x 3 for the SU’s used
(for use on both starships, space station and planetary structures)
Power Used: size x 3 power per round of use
This is the commercial version that is based on the Starfleet’s EMH Mark one (Emergency Medical Hologram) systems this Starship Hologram systems are installed on mostly commercial starship such as cargo carriers and personal yachts as well as the commercial transports. The Hologram can be manipulated into any image of anyone that the user or starship owner wants. The difference between the holograms and a biological crew is that the holograms do not need to rest and can complete the task even if it takes days. The holograms can have as unique personality in comparison to that the characters of the next.
Some just want the assistance of the Engineering hologram or the EMH when needed but some take the whole package from the piloting, hospitality, service, security, ship’s councilor, and EMH holograms with the capability of making multiples of each when the time comes. Basically, if you name the need of the hologram the ships systems can generate a hologram that will function as one.
Part of the programing is each hologram can be modified to be a unique personality. The ships systems are interlaced with one another to making them reliable and always ready from a simple call of the specified hologram. The holograms are based on the earlier EMH versions of the holograms with greater stability than the earlier EMH’s were at the time. All the Starship Holograms are ship wide systems and can even be projected within meters of the exterior of the hull. This is so if there is a need to make repairs to the outer hull then the hologram can make repairs.
The earlier holograms of this system were reprogramed versions of the EMH’s to operate as minors on asteroids where they can perform the hazardous duties. This was done to prevent the biological entities from being in danger of death or being harmed in an accident. This system is one the most hardened system on the ship even the multiple impacts to the system allowing the ship to be repaired even in the mist of combat. The holograms are capable of independent operations even during an emergency.
Personal Note: I could see that some unscrupulous Ferengi could use the holograms to be hospitality and entertainment for their customers. The holograms could be programed to be completely honest or double dealing dealers of gaming tables to cheat the players to the Ferengi’s benefit.
