I'd say the two most important books to have for LUGTrek are DS9 Core book and the Player's Guide.

For TOS fan I'd substitude the TOSCore book for DS9.

Other books are nice to have, but aren't as necessary.

But some like the feel of TNG better than DS9. Also, it has more info on Starfleet and the Federation.

The players guide is really good. I found most of the LUGTrek books to be of high quality. My only beef was some of the art, which I hope DecTrek will surpass as I love their CCG art.

I was just lucky my local store had a large stock of LUGTrek stuff - it allowed me to get "into the game" in one swoop.

I find myself geting far to impatient for DecTrek, even though I haven't finished even reading my LUGTrek books...

Alright then, enough about the Players Guide already (Yes it's a great book), but has any one heard any thing on when Decipher is going to be ready for release, dates would be nice but I'll settle for quarter at this point...I'm not quite to what year...yet.

I got most of them shortly after their release, and I haven't read all of them through.

Decipher's CCG dates are always optimistic. I would take any date they give and add a couple of months.

But I would always rather wait than buy a rushed game.

my opinion is tainted due to the fact that I think the ICON system is the best system out there. I played White Wolf system for many years but wasn't happy with the skill system at all, the ICON system seems to have a feel of real flesh and blood characters as opposed to something two dimensional such as your standard vampire character. But i do think that any game that you need a degree in calculus to make a character should be burned, which is why all of my old D&D books, about 30-50 books now fit into an urn on my bookshelf.

Best books...I like them all, I have read all of them through, some of them more than once and am to the point now where I don't have to open a book while running a game

I am so looking forward to this game...I mean this si really something that I want to see. I hope it lives up to our hopes, but after seeing the quality of products like "Spacedock" and "Dominion War" I have little doubt it will be awesome
