    Post SD Design: Highflyer-class Frigate

Alright. As promised I'm posting SD stats for the Highflyer-class. I'm bit lazy, so i won't embelish the presentation.
The Highflyer-class is supposed to benefit from research done for Project Defiant (it was built during the timeframe between Sisko's stint at Utopia Planitia and DS9's Episode "The Search". It's primary purpose is to be combat-oriented as a response to possible Borg excursions. Since it was designed before such things as ablative armor, I declined from using them in the stats. The player who created the class went to the trouble of inventing technobabble to explain the (then) enhanced capabilities of the vessel, things like subsapce resonace scanner and wave-front interaction warp drive. If any of you wants to take a look, just go to:
    http://www.geocities.com/patchlord/stships.html#USS HIGHFLYER

There's a picture too. I would have included it in this description, but I don't I can attach images to the board messages.

Some of the firing arcs might be overestimated. That's because I only saw the section on combat after I designed the ship.

    Here it goes:

    Bit big for a frigate?
Probably making it a strike cruiser would be a good call.

I'd agree that ordinarily Frigates aren't as big as the posted example, but there's at least one Starfleet vessel -- the Springfield-class Light Frigate -- which is that big. So, it's not totally without precedent.

Is that canon data Steve? or what you've tagged on?
All i know about the SpringField class is that there was a USS Chekov among her number that died at Wolf 359.

It's not canon data, SIR SIG. All I had to go on was the ship's name. TPOF pegs the Springfield as a Light Frigate, though, and I had no reason to change that. The bit of ship debris at Wolf 359 which I, probably more or less arbitrarily, decided was the remnants of a Springfield was pretty large, so I made the ship itself large.

I called it a frigate following the Core Rules book description of a frigate as being "... medium- to large-sized starships primarily intended for military, patrol, interdiction and related duties."
