    Post Spacedock Updates

Not that I'm trying to pressure you guys on top of all of the great work that you've done, but is there a rough timetable for updateing the Spacedock manuscript. ie adding in the control Panels, any potential graphics, etc. I only ask because I want to get it printed and bound (for personal use of course) at alphagraphics, but I would prefer to wait until it was complete.

PS: Steve, since the playtest, I think this was one of the greatest books to come down the pipe from you guys. And I hope and pray that you can make the new Whell of Time RPG as good.

Before any Spacedock updates/corrections (there are a few already), Steve wants to get out the SRM and DWS. Plus there's Voyager that I would like to get back to.

So I would estimate at least 30 days before another version -- probably longer.

I have no intentions of adding any additional art to Spacedock at this time, only the reference charts that were left out for time considerations. (Which I've already started work on.)

Thanks for the fast response Don. Quick question then. What are the blank pages for then?

A chapter spread starts on the left-hand side, so when a chapter ends, the next one begins on the next available left page. Thus, if a chapter ends on the left side there's a blank page until the next spread.

    Use it for notes.

    To supplement Don's reply:

Getting the SRM and DWS done definitely takes priority. I think we may be able to toss the gamer aids up quickly, but in a rough form, then go back and "prettify" 'em as Don has time. Don and I will figure out the best approach.

For information on various supplements for SPACEDOCK, check out the "What I'm Doing" thread I posted this morning.

As for revisions and additions to SPACEDOCK itself: outside of maybe adding in the spiffed-up gamer aid forms, I don't anticipate updating the manuscript for a reasonable length of time -- otherwise it becomes too much of a pain to keep downloading and such. For example, I may wait until VOY goes off the air, add in new maneuvers and tech from my notes, and then pester Don about doing a new version.

In the meantime, I have these boards to post new things as the spirit catches me. And y'all can certainly do the same.

Part of the problem with updating the manuscript is that Don has to do a whole mess of layout work all over again. He's done a tremendous job on all this stuff, and I don't want to pester him to keep doing it over and over until he's sick of it. I'd rather find a way to minimize the workload as much as possible.

    Don...

Any chance of getting you to put the counter sheets I did during the playtests up for download? If you no longer have them, I still have the original, both in a BIG colour image and a smaller greyscale one.

I, for one, would love to see Owen's counters posted.

for SRM any pictures coming with it?

any artist out there donating talent?
looking for artist to donated talent?

for me the look of the ship is sometimes more important then stats. I want to know what a Springfeild looks like or a Reneissance class. I know the are design out there but I would like to see some original stuff for the game.

No. That would entail too much delay and work at present. We'll save illustrations, if any, for future iterations of the SRM.

I believe a couple of people have offered to do artwork, and I'm certainly always willing to talk to talented folks about donating their time and effort for future releases. Most importantly, they'd have to be able to look at my incredibly crude ship sketches, not laugh, and then prepare their own versions for me to pore over and fuss about so they can make changes.

I agree that the look of the ship is often important, and I do hope to eventually have illos of many of the ships for which we lack canon depictions. At this point, though, we just can't put them in the manuscript, for the reasons discussed above.

    Question

Steve.. Where do we report typos? Not that I feel your manuscript is flawed in ANY way, but I've seen a couple.

Oh, I have no doubt there are typos.

Reporting them to me by private e-mail, or even a post here on the boards, is fine.

What are the odds of getting a consolidated "errata" page put up here on trekrpg.net, with all the various rules Q&A & clarifications collected in one spot?
