I had my first design in under 24 hours. I'm still polishing it, but it will be up in a few days.

    OK...but I have a life - and a wife. There goes my ship-design time...

Well I havent had time to print it yet, just watching it on a 17 inch screen which strainful to say the least.
Besides the point but the Borg cube crew complement is 129000 not 192000. (just had to nitpick)

Nice little beastie, just goes to show that bigger ships are just fresh meat. You know what this means don't you? Fighter carriers!! Wahey, start designing the Tomcats.

Oops, that's not very trekie. Bad Swampy.

A few things I picked up on in your design:
    - The officer/enlisted ratio seems off, I'd have though a couple of officers, 2-3 senior enlisted & the rest junior enlisted.
    - You'd probably also have all Spartan quarters as per Defiant. Small ships aren't renowned for their comforts.
    - Your medical facilities can't accomodate an EMH & seem a bit high for this sort of vessel. Particularly since it means one of your crew is a ship'd Doctor, that only leaves 7 for everything else! I think this is just a gap in the rules. I'd suggest fitting a class 1 facility to represent a simple first aid station with no assigned medical personnel. The EMH can be explained as a special case installation since they're ideal for small craft like these.
    - Your total comms security should be -4 not -2. You get a basic -2 for the Class 6 comms plus a further -2 from the Delta upgrade.
    - Your cargo transporter should be rated in mass capacity not the number of pads, ie. it can shift 400kg
    - Your pulse phaser should have accuracy 3/4/6/9 since you have to have a Gamma API, which I think you've done by the SU cost, but it should only be able to fire in Standard & Wide Beam modes thus reducing cost to 39 SU. The modes available is a bit confusing: page 67 suggests Wide Beam can't be used, but page 70 & the Defiant design says otherwise.
    - Your shuttlebay could hold 4 shuttlepods (Size 1) or 2 full sized shuttles (Size 2), I take it you just left spare capacity?

    I still like it though.

What can I say - I'm numerically challenged! Also, I figured out where some of those missing SUs went - no cargo or emergency transporters! I figured the Borg wouldn't use Emergency transporters, and as for cargo I don't see why they wouldn't use the most efficient model (Personnel transporters - which have Quantum-Level Resolution to enable the Borg to beam those possibly partly-organic bits of tech around) for everything. I also only gave the ship 20 eight-person units. Back to the drawing board!

Actually, this is really only a thought exercise as I don't genuinely expect anyone to have to fight this ship. Unless it's as part of a fleet. Hmmm - has anyone tried the fleet combat rules to represent a group of starships attacking a single huge vessel like a cube? Does it last as long as it should?

Maybe theres room for an experiment here, when the SRM's come out we get a bunch of people together over email and each person takes a ship or two vs. a borg cube over email and we see if the maths works out into a several day long running fight (aka; First Contact) or a Massacre (aka; Best of Both Worlds), or even if the Borg are considerably weaker than they should really be... (aka Kathryn Janeway )

    WHose up for this?

    Captain Hunter...

Its your Borg Cube... Care to be the 'target' of our attentions?

Now all we really need is a list of starships at Wolf 359 and during the battle for sector 001...

We know that first contact used lots of Sabre, Norway, Steamrunner, a Sovereign and a Defiant... what else?

BTW.. I am moving this to a new thread so this one can be used for its original purpose...

    Unhappy

Does anyone have a reasonable design for a Breen cruiser (like the one that took out the Defiant)?

I'm trying to do one in Spacedock, but I really have nothing to work on other than a rough size (from photos) and the nasty energy-draining cannon-thingie.

Since I imagine Steve's "official" version won't be out until the Dominion War Sourcebook, I'm getting desperate here, as I need it ASAP.

If anyone has any hints or ideas, I'd be happy to name my second-born child after them (too late for the first-born... ).

    TIA,

    DESCRIPTION AND NOTES
    Fleet Data:
The original qeyIIS betleH-class Battleship was first launched in 2285 the I.K.S. qeyIIS betleH-class Battleship. The Sword of Kahless class Battleship provides command and control to each of the Sectors Fleets within the Empire, its sheer size and armaments make it lethal to anything other than capital ships. As of 1665 IR or 2290 there are 4 qeyIIS betleH-class Battleship in service.
Noteworthy vessels / service records / encounters: I.K.S. qeyIIS betleH, (Sword of Kahless) prototype. I.K.S. yejquv ghop (Hand of the High Council). I.K.S. wo' HubwI' (Defender of the Empire). I.K.S. tiq lung (Dragon's Heart)

Currently of the original 4 only 2 remain they are now House ships of House DevnoH. The IKAV tiq Lung is commanded by Col Qor'toq zantai-DevnoH The Imperial Klingon Marine Commandant, Their upgrade was done in part by Col Qor'toq's son gosH'nal assigned as an exchange officer with the Federation. Even though the ship is one of the largest it is extremely difficult to detect with sensors.

I don't mean to be a bother, but could somebody critique the Gorn BC I have posted all by itself? I'm intending to design a small navy of Gorn vessels for my upcomming campaign, and this one was sort of a "shake out the bugs" trial.

I'm also in the process of figuring out what it is that makes Gorn ships decidedly "Gornish". So far, I'm using SFB as a basis but that may change once I get going. (After all, they're not cannon EITHER.)

Warp speeds of 8.0/9.6/9.982 (_especially_ the 9.982) seem too fast for a Klingon ship, let alone an immense Klingon battleship/dreadnought.
