If all the ships' names at Wolf 359 aren't accounted for by Canon, I'll be the USS Armistice...an Ambassador or Nebula class ship I want to build soon.

Also, I was thinking...if a my map template were made available for download, every gamer could plot the battle at home as a visual reference and compare their maps to an "official" map posted online every turn. That is, of course, if you all want:

    1. a turn based game rather that live online
    2. if you guys like the map.

I'm not a serious gamer so I'm sure there are more elegant solutions this gaming community will find more appropriate.

I would like the Saratoga too. Since a sent one of my PCs off to be the Saratoga's captain, when I created a new one. He was Vulcan.

But since it's taken, gimme the survivor, the USS Endeavour.

BTW, I think a turn-based game would be easier on all of us who depend on phones for connection. We might even create a short-lived list for the game.

OK, the current Layout for the battle recreation is:

Locutus’s Borg Cube – Steve Long

USS Bellorephon NCC-62048 Nebula Class – Dr Bashier

USS Bonestell NCC-31600 Oberth Class - Red

USS Chekov NCC-53702 Springfield Class – ArsenicMan

USS Endeavour NCC-71805 Nebula Class – Fred

USS Kyushu NCC-65491 New Orleans Class – Kevin

USS Melbourne NCC-62043 Excelsior Class – Dan

USS Roosevelt NCC-2573 Excelsior Class – Greg

USS Saratoga NCC-31911 Miranda Class – Aldaron

USS Vigilant NCC-31922 Miranda Class admrsam2 (I apologise but the Saratoga was taken 20 minutes before your claim, so I out you in a non-canon, but equal ship...)

USS Tolstoy NCC 62095 Rigel Class

    USS Yamaguchi NCC-26510 Ambassador Class
    NCC-40273 Excelsior Class

USS Armistice NCC-(tba) Ambassador Class – Bishop

I have Dave Biggins, Capt. K. Vaughn and Afraser listed as in but with no ships (Or Afraser's email address),

Any body else interested in this Christmas Slay fest? Or should we start handing out mutiple ships! Either post here, or mail me... I've got the organising.

Dr Bashier... The only holdup on this test at christmas is the arrival of the SRM... Either that or we all have to design our own ships... <G>

Lastly as Steve pointed out, we need a good medium to run this puppy... Any ideas anyone?

Remind me not to let you anywhere near my presents, man.

I definitely think we should wait for the SRM to be released -- it's already got all the ships done and such. Saves work.

As for running it, I'm beginning to think that a turn-based game might be best, for logistical purposes. My only concern there is, what happens if someone doesn't get their move in on time? But I'm sure we can develop some "default" orders or something.

Maybe we could set up an eGroups list or OneList for it, or something.

we need to fill out this fleet, might I suggest.

    A Merced Class
    a couple of constellations
    Mediterranean class
    Istanbul
    Soyuz class

I read somewhere there were Two Melbournes An excelsior class and a newly commissioned nebula. The story goes that the excelsior attended the commissioning ceremony before going to the mothball yard and this is when the borg attacked. This could put a new twist on the game with both ships not having a full crew and the new ship not having all the bugs out.

Some source claims there was two Klingon vessels present. Do we want them there if so I suggest a Vor'cha and a K'vort. Perhaps on a diplomatic mission to earth.

    Sure.

As soon as the SRM is out, we'll do some preliminary mailing to set stuff up.

Steve, that's great! Yes, if someone doesn't get there move in on time then you can have some sort of secondary command as default. Something like, "Conn, keep us within 100,000 km of the Borg vessel" or if a vessl was accelerating/decelerating then it continues to do so...there are many possibilities.

    Kevin...

The real "two Melbournes" story is somewhat more mundane. In BoBW, the Nebula study model bore Melbourne markings, but was never seen close enough to make out any markings. When DS9's Emissary was made, they decided to use an unfilmed wrecked model of the Excelsior from STVI:TUD (the original script called for the Excelsior to ram Chang's BoP), suitably remarked. In summary, there was only one USS Melbourne - the Excelsior Class prominently shown in DS9.

In BoBW, the Admiral states that the Klingons were sending 3 ships, IIRC.

The Admiral just said the Klingons were sendng ships, not how many. On that note, he even said Starfleet was thinking of asking the Romulans for help - do we think they showed up or not?

Talking of ships ramming other ships - the ramming rules are fine, but has anyone got any idea how much damage a warp-speed ram might do? Riker seemed to be prepared to warp the Enterprise into the Cube at the end of BoBW, and my players once wanted to remote-pilot a runabout into a sphere at warp. How about normal ram damage, multiplied by the warp factor of the ramming vessel? Difficulty of the maneuver would increase drastically, but against large targets like cubes it would cancel out (more or less). The above rule would make for hideous amounts of damage at high warp, but as in most cases the rammer will be near the target and thus unable to accelerate to more than about warp 2 or 3 before impact, it might work out OK. What do you think?

If you all attend the PhaseII query page and follow the link there are many photos of the BOBW wreackage field...

Most of these ships seem to be 'concept models', ie: a couple of Excelsior concepts, the phase II 'Star Destroyer' Enterprise that sort of thing...

Possibly giving a clue as to what some of these 'unseen' ships look like...

One Phote shows the undeniable command artea of a K'Tinga class ship. I think possibly a Vorcha is too much to hope for...

I e-mailed for a list subscription, but have yet to hear anything back -- has anyone else?

I prefer to proceed on the assumption that neither the Klingons nor the Romulans got any ships to Wolf 359 on time. We certainly saw no non-Starfleet wreckage, nor have any Klingon or Romulan losses ever been mentioned.

As for warp ramming, there are rules for that in SD, if you just convert warp speed to MUs. It's ugly; in the DWS, I have the Dominion crack open a planet with several hundred thousand points of damage from a high-warp ram.

To properly simulate the Wolf 359 battle, the only Starfleet ships allowed to attempt to ram the Borg cube are those commanded by Klingons. In other words -- none.

There is a Klingon ship in the screen shot with the Phase II Enterprise (on the left of shot). So we know for canon that there were Klingons at Wolf 359.
