I've allowed holoemitters to be placed in key locations for use with communications and or as an AI(running a game with a small fleet - not "LUG system" ships so can't help with building it) BUT:

You might not want the emitters everywhere - for instance not around the controls for the holoemiters! That way the hologram can't block one from turning it off...

At present, it's part of the cost of the better-quality EMHs. However, it's worth considering as a separate line item if other holograms become feasible. I didn't include it as one in SD v. 1 because so far we've only seen EMHs, and it didn't seem worthwhile to write up a whole separate section as opposed to just folding them into the EMH cost.

So logically, if one wanted to create an Emergency Command Hologram (not just a daydream of the EMH's anymore), one could just use the EMH's cost, could they not?

I don't see why not, Quintaris -- assuming you didn't want an ECH to leave the bridge or similar small area.

Aah aah aah... don't forget about the PVC holograms (Plasma Vent Cleaners, FKA EMH Mark I)...

    Already got a EEH (engineering)
Or rather had until the ship went bang against the Borg.

    Post Full Shipwide Holo-emitters...

    Steve.

I was looking through the Spacedock, and couldn't find any construction additions for shipwide holo-emmitters.

Is this included in the higher cost of EMH 2's and above.

And if so, does this allow other holograms to be projected? I ask as one of the modifications on my ship the USS Venture, is an update for ship wide holo-emitters and a second holographic being, C.H.R.I.s

    The Computer Holographic Responsive Interface.

Which would be the best way to represent this, create the Holo-emitters construction rules or just buy a second EMH mk2 and adjust the Stats?

Since holograms have displayed the ability to become sentient, in my campaign a senior researcher at the Jupiter Holoprogramming Facility was trying his own way of creating an artificial lifeform. He created a holographic program with only basic cognitive skills but the ability to learn and adapt (we know the holodoc is capable of this). The resulting hologram was therefore much like a newborn child. By exposing the hologram to stimuli, both "real" and "programmed", he eventually produced what was, in effect, a holographic human being. Because a lot of the hologram's education was programmed in, it is chronologically a mere six years old, but recently (after much debate) managed to successfully apply to Starfleet Academy.
The PC engineer in the campaign assisted in its creation and eventually came up with a portable holoemitter (not like Voyager's EMH one - this one's suitcase-sized) for him to use.

I've got the Moriarty program running on a dedicated holodeck as a civilian scientist on my crew's ship. Him and Countess Bartholomew live in 'quarters' off of the holographic science lab, complete with a view of Victorian Paris (the Countess talked Moriarty into 'moving' there). Moriarty does all sorts of science analysis and such for the crew, but his primary crux of research revolves around a portable holo-emitter, which is currently about the size of a large freezer. I'm sure he'd be interested in this ship-wide emitter upgrade.. Hmmm..

A bit off thread - but how do you handle the fact that Prof M is, at heart, a criminal?

Yeah, it's kinda off topic. May Steve smite us.

The fact that Moriarity is a criminal mastermind was something long debated at Starfleet command. It was, after all, Starfleet's responsibility in bringing him 'to life'. So they have made some concessions for him - his past actions on the Enterprise were percieved as self-defense. He spent a few years on a Starbase, undergoing 'rehab' with counselors. He's a civilian, though, and as long as he remains within the law, he won't get any grief. If you consider the fact that Starfleet has him under the gun, so to speak, by virtue of his being locked in a holodeck; all one needs to do stop him is shut him down. Once he gets a working, more-portable version of his holo-emitter, he'll probably make a break for it and start back into his nefarious ways. The campaign has just started, so we'll see. In the meantime, he is merely behaving himself.

Hey, far be it from me to smite anyone for having an interesting discussion with gaming ramifications, so long as it's at least marginally related to the topic of "ships and stuff to do on or with 'em."
